I agree with another answer, it depends on the breed, and the size. Usually, the smaller the dog, the longer the life span. I've known chihuahuas to be 20 years old, on the other hand, an 8 year old Great Dane, is a very old Great Dane. Best of luck to you........

If the dog is treated well, fed good quality food, and taken to the vet regularly, a dog can live up to 16 years. The breed will determine longevity . Mutts seem to always live longer than purebreds.

It varies from breed to breed. Larger dogs tend to live shorter lives that smaller breeds, but don't go by that. I once knew a German Shepherd who lived to be 18. My sister has a Cocker Spaniel that is 17. Generally, count on 10-14 years.

My dog lived a bit longer, but my nephew had one die on him within 5 years. Anywhere between 10 and 14 would be a good statistical guess.

Dogs can live any number of years, just like humans. The generally live for 15 years, some live longer. It just depends on their health and how well they are taken care of.

I'd say it depends on the dog, and how he/she is cared for. You'd probably want to consider genetics too, regarding health defects. As a little girl, I had a Doberman who lived to 13.
