Lesbians have children all the time. But it is always difficult to raise children, more by yourself. It is a very big decision to make to have children. You have to be prepared to give, give and give some more. Financially, emotionally, psychologically, and physically. It is better to have the support of a partner, whether gay or straight. And to be emotionally and financially stable. As much as is possible in todays world anyway. Good Luck if you are considering it.

There is a lesbian couple in my church who have two children. These two children are lucky to have two fine and loving parents.
But many children are raised by one parent. It's possible to do, and it is done every day. Parenting is difficult, and single parenting is more difficult. But this is true whether a mother is lesbian or a straight single mother. The same is true for men who raise children alone. Being a dad is a lot of work, being a single dad is more work, but this is true for straight dads, gay dads, and bisexual dads.

I have a freind who has two children. She's not alone though, her partner is with her, helping her. They have a very happy and well adjusted family. I have a son from a (very) past relationship when I was still thinking I was bi (glad thats over) he and I get along well and he is very accepting of me and the life I have chosen. I raised him to be pretty open minded, and he has grown up around a wide variety of people, we have a good family.

I have known lesbians with adopted children, two Mothers and two daughters. The kids are happy and well rounded. I don't know any single lesbian Mothers but I'm sure there are some. And don't forget bisexual woman with children, those kids are wild but fun.

I have a friend that has two children she was very much so a lesbian when she had them and her and her partner raised them together. And being a single lesbian mother shouldn't be no different from a straight single mother.

My partner and I don't have kids but we have met and know many lesbian (and gay) couples who do. they all seem to be very happy, healthy loving families. Shame on those who say lesbian/gay couples shouldn't raise kids. they have probably never met any of these families. These families are just as loving and committed as hetero families...some even more so.

Mellisa Ethridge is a lesbian and gave birth to and is raising a child. A male friend reportedly 'donated' his efforts and semen to her.
