The most important thing is to make sure that you are holding him *very* close to you while you are nursing him. This will help him nurse correctly without swallowing air.
Burp *frequently* during a feeding. Some babies need to burp *several* times during a feeding.
Thrush in the mouth can also cause gassiness. The individual yeast cells are swallowed and ferment in the baby's digestive system.
Lastly, a dairy allergy frequently causes babies to have a lot of gas. If you think this is your problem, eliminate *all* dairy from your diet for at least 2 weeks. If he is getting any supplements, you would have to eliminate them to be sure...but soy probably isn't any better because half of all babies who have dairy allergies are also allergic to soy.

First of all , be sure not to exceed the recomended amnt of gas drops as most people do not realize they interfere with calcium absorption.
Secondly, it is possible your baby has an allergy like lactose intolerance causing the belly pain. Talk to your pediatrician or just switch formulas to something like Lactose free Enfamil and see if there is an improvement.
Finally , when the screaming is occuring and nothing is helping check his diaper. See if you notice a small bulging in the groin area(sort of above the penis but to either the rt. or lft.) if you do gently push on it and see if it pops back in. This is a hernia and is not at all uncommon in baby boys especially if they were born before 40 weeks. It is painful and the crying makes it worse so they cry worse.
If you notice this call the doctor and get him referred to a surgeon ASAP for repair as the intestines can become strangulated.
My son had this same thing happen and had I not happened to have had to change him during one of his "gas pain" fits I wouldn't have stumbled accross the hernia.

Try burping him better. I don't know how old he is or how much milk he gets, but you should burp him about every few ounces. The drops will help, too. If he is truely in pain-really high pitched cry, bringing his legs to his stomach, crying for long periods of time, etc then he needs to go to the doctor just so they can rule out things that are more serious. My daughter had the same problem. I used the drops, burped her really well, and eventually changed her formula to something her little belly could tolerate better. A warm bath and massage works great, too. Good luck!

I have a 2 month old and he had the same problem and I was told to use the Mylicon Drops and they work really well and now I do not have to give him anything. It is a good thing to burp him/her more often while feeding. If all else fails you need to take the baby to the doctor.

Here's a couple of tricks I learned from my mothers generation.
Rub vinegar on the baby's tummy, then keep the stomach VERY warm. Some use a heating pad, on low. Lay baby on his stomach.
Another is to boil a bay leaf in water., add sugar. Let the baby drink it after it cools. It settled down my little one. He even seemed to like the taste. Good luck.

1st thing you should do is take the baby to a Dr. If you can't take him to the Dr's for some reason, go out and get some Milicon. It works great for my little one. His tummy shouldn't be hard as a rock, if his tummy has been this way for some time I suggest taking him to the hospital.

Im a mother of 4. My second daughter was the same way! I used HUMPHRIES that you can get from Wal-Mart. It is herbal and it works wonders. My son ate the whole bottle once and it didnt hurt him it is that mild. Also as a nurse, if he has trouble having a bowel movment take him to the doctor if that is OK then just try the humphries, and heat works too.

Girl is ALL in you diet . baby eats what you eat there must be something that is causing the baby this problem , poor thing I bet her tummy hurts. My baby has skin problems I saw many Dr's. and no solution I change my diet and in 48 hours it the rashes started to clear the results were amazing. stay away from spicy food, milk, nuts, cabbage.... there is a whole lot of food we should NOT eat check this site:
www.babycenter.com
If you are giving her formula it might be that her stomach can't process it . Make sure to check with your DR. and watch what you eat .
