I would love to learn how to play an instrument just as a hobby. Which instrument is now too hard to learn, yet sounds nice?
Thanks!

As a hobby, the piano (or keyboard) is your best choice. Assuming you have minimal or no knowledge of notes and music theory, the piano will be the easiest to learn. If you do know something about theory, piano playing will come even easier to you. With the proper lesson book, you should be able to play your favorite songs within 6 months to a year. I would suggest trying Bastien's Older Beginner series or Alfred's piano course (these are two of the most concise and practical series on the market). Otherwise, try an adult beginner course that teaches chording. I would recommend going to Schmidt Music store (or an equivalent if you're not in the Midwest) and talking to the staff as well.

The reason I would choose to begin with piano over guitar or another instrument is the work involved. I personally play the piano, organ, and flute. I played both the trumpet and the violin (for one year each) during college. I tried to play the guitar recently for awhile. The piano is the "most forgiving" instrument. By that I mean you can avoid practicing the longest and still manage to sound good! With the guitar, you build up callouses on your fingertips. When you don't play for a couple weeks, your fingers become soft again and it's harder to practice for extended periods of time. The flute is easy to learn, but I know from experience if you don't play it regularly your lips lose proper embouchure(good sound control).

In conclusion, the piano is an excellent starting point. I personally have been playing piano for 12 years. It was so much easier to learn other instruments quickly because the piano gave me a great foundation. Plus, it's a fun and relaxing hobby for me.

I hope that this has given you some ideas and has been a help!

Personally I am a keyboardist. Keyboard is simple to learn if you have the will to take the temporary pains to learn something new. Once you get a coordination between chords and the main voice, you can play any tune! (I mean it)
It's better if you take a few tutorials, from a professional before you begin, that will give you the basic knowledge of the instrument. Then slowly and gradually, you will gain expertise in playing the keyboard, and finally you become a professional!!
Good Luck...

I know how you feel, dont worry you will get it back within a few years if you have enough money... there is a revolutionary new technology that is basicly inserting a microphone into your ears and plugin it into your brain. i cant hear but i can play instruments. i have no idea if im good or not but from what people (write) tell me im quite good. learn to read peoples lips. dont end your life as you still have alot to go. think of notes as words and make sentences. you can become famous. even in the hardest situations you are great. be thankful some people dont have vision and are mute. just make the most of life as it is and wait for a cure.

I love the guitar but it's a harder instrument to play. The best first instrument and easiest one to learn to play is the piano, so try that!

Guitar, because you can play it by yourself, unlike some instruments that you need a whole band with you in order to sound good. (I am a bass player) Just listen to your favorite music and pick out the notes until you have somewhat figured out the notes on the neck. Good luck. Have fun!
