Everything comes at a price. Some things are paid for by you. Some things are paid for by others.
Some people truly give from the heart. Those are the gifts with no strings attached.
And certainly many things are too good to be true. In all honesty, though, if someone "gives" something in return for something else, it's not a gift. They're just purchasing your "something else" by what they've given you. It's a trade...a barter.
You should always be willing to receive a gift from others. But, in doing so, consider letting yourself be open to the possibility of giving to others as well.

I think it depends on the person who accepts, the giver and the value of what is given. I could not imagine life without giving and being given things like smiles, acceptance, compliments, valentines. Most of these are worth very little monetarily, but they mean that others are thinking about me and I am not all alone. If you have good friends who are kind and caring, they don't count up to make sure it is all even.
Some things are too good to be true....always read the fine print.

everything does come with a price. Even in little things; when someone makes you a compliment, he automaticly and unconciously expects one back. Some people expect something in return knowingly, and some people don't even realise they do until someone tells them. It is the way people are made. You often hear people saying "oh, i was so good to him, how can he prefer sleeping in stead of going shopping with me for 5 hours?"

I'm not sure I really understand your questions.
But.........your first opening line was a perfect understanding that
"Yes" everything comes with a price.
If you choose not to "re-pay that price" than that in itself could be the price you pay........ you may have lost out on having the friendship of a really good person in your life. Does that make sense. I hope so...
I may not want to take that smelling old - smoke infested sweater from my sister........but, I take it and say thanks - because it comes from her heart.....(and I may be glad for it because....someone else may really need that article of clothing for something).........I don't know like a Halloween costume...
Don't get me wrong...that is not a "true life example" it's just an example.

I'm sure you've heard the phrase, "There's no such thing as a free lunch". I think that if you take then you must give. What comes around goes around and the people who do take and decide that they will not give back, those are the people who end up with sad lives, alone.

Good things don't come easy, nor are they free. Everything has a cost. You get what you pay for. You measure what you loose with what you get.

It might help if you would focus on ONE question at a time, and make it clear.
