We are already seeing some of the consequences. For example search engines forced to censor results. Next step is for search engines to censor results not just in China but around the world. Any company critical of China's aggressions would face economic suicide. China would use economics to cut off and isolate targeted nations. For example Tiawan. Once they solidify thier grip on the the world economy all they have to do is then systematically attack any industry Tiawan has success in and slowly wage economic war on them. Chinese agents would then have an unhappy base of people to stir up and would use it's wealth to buy key Gov and private sector resources. This would all but assure the fall of nations like China, India, Korea and Japan over the next 20 years.
Against the West and Russia China will increasingly throw it's weight around and become less concerned about cival rights. Why should China be concerned about waging conventional war when the West for example could not resupply without China. Especially if Tiawan and or Japan were removed from the picture? All China would have to do is threaten to destabilize thier economies which they could easily do in the near future.
China doesn't like an action in a forign nation trade embargo up and watch that nations economy fall to pieces.
Prices will stay low only until there is no other option but China for a resource. Once China has a sustainable Monopoly they will charge the highest the market can bear for that good or service. China right now uses slave labor and very poorly paid people combined with a very inexpensive conventional labor force to undercut compitition. The slave labor will not cost any more, but Chinese will come to expect higher standards of living. Those not in the slave labor camps that is. China will seek forign populations to use for slave labor as economic conditions improve to prevent discontent within the local populace. In other words an invasion of India, Viet Nam, Thialand, Cambodia, Korea, etc would be likely. What would anybody be able to do to stop them?
Nothing because we have exported all of our industry to them. The US did not beat the Japanese because we had superior technology. Because we had more men. We beat the Japanese because we had an industrial base that made thiers look puny. We were able to supply half of Europe and our own troops with overwhelming numbers of ships, aircraft and other supplies. If we are stripped of our industrial base we lose the ability to wage an extended war. We lose that ability China will not hesitate to use that against us.
The net result is economic slavery for the West and real slavery for those nations unfortunate enough to be near China.

China is already the number one financial superpower. They just do not brag about it or even mention it. They are a quiet superower, our lives have already changed drastically. look at where a majority of your things are made , and the fact that they allow few imports.

China will never become an economic superpower until they start protecting intellectual property...
until that day they will simply be the place where everybody else's ideas get manufactured...
they will never innovate or create anything of importance until their creative endeavors are protected by law and that law is enforced...

That's just not going to happen in our lifetime. China has over 1 billion people. In 2006 it can't manage to feed them, build good infrastructure, highways, bridges, roads, telecommunications, plumbing, or provide technology for everyone. Those are things a society must have for everyone in order to prosper, thrive, and be creative. The people's basic needs must be met first. Their sheer numbers are intimidating, but what good is a million man army if you can't feed or transport them anywhere?

It already has. Prices of products in the shops come down. Which may not seem a bad thing at first but employers will keep wages as low as they can to compete and employ from abroad if necessary. Eventually the British economy will collapse.

Years ago China was the worlds Number one, exporting all over the world.
Similar to what they do today.
Buy Chinese products and you may save money but the product is inferior and poor compared to its western or Japanese equivalent.
