YES, it's strictly illegal to do so. I would "sue" rather than "sew" the person if they do. Or report it to your municipality's postmaser. I'd just wait first till you have some evidence, or gripe with some weight behind it. The p-master will do SOMETHING, but having a solid complaint will make it less likely the carrier will retaliate for heat over something they'd not done yet.

Yes, it is illegal. Your mail is privet and the carrier is not supposed to tell anyone about it. Well, as long as you are of age and not a minor still living at home. They are allowed to tell your parents/guardians what is in the mail if you are underage. But only your legal guardians.

The legality of your situation notwithstanding, if you're concerned about the privacy of your mail, have you considered getting a post office box? (This way your nosy relative can't just stop by & check your mail when you're not home.)

yes it is illegal, and in fact the mail carrier should not be aware of what is in your letters or packages being received. I am a courier driver, and when folks ask me what is in their box, I respond with "I am not sure," and if they ask why? then I respond with "I not the one who order this, you did" they either chuckle or get mad. but in the long run, I don't want to be liable in the event I am accused of knowing what my customers are receiving. Mail is a private matter.

I would say so, simply b/c I know it is illegal for people to open your mail as well as w/hold it. Furthermore, whatever comes to in the mail is confidential. Report this to the postal inspector if this should occur.
