You mean to use hip hop techniques and tricks in ballroom dancing? Sure - could be fun. Better with rhythm dances like swing or salsa than smooth dances like Fox trot, but creativity is good anywhere.
It would also be cool to use the lead and follow skills from ballroom to enhance a two-person hip-hop routine.
Routines tend to include tricks as well as dancing (for example, on So You Think You Can Dance, when the non-ballroom dancers pick ballroom dances to do, the choreographers make up a routine that is almost all tricks with very little actual dancing. The key is to come up with tricks that have the style appropriate to the music and the dance. Obviously both ballroom and hip-hop have their own repertoires of tricks that could be modified and shared.
If enough people do it, then, over time, some of it could become part of the character of the dance. Dances evolve - even ballroom dances.

What an interesting idea--I think it sounds great! One of the best things about the new crop of movies featuring dancing is the ways in which they are fusing traditional and modern styles and bringing them to a whole new level of creativity!

gosh, since i'm totally in ballroom dances, i'm sure it would be a huge nonsense to try to combine hip hop and for instance slow fox..
Ballroom dances simply dont need to be damaged by hip hop

I haven't seen it yet, but the idea of combining it in a dance would be good. Basically, they have this harmonious relationship. But you have to have a good teacher or choreographer to do that. We have done that and it came out really good. I will see that movie for myself.
