when i was a child i was abused by 3 people on different occasions. the first abuse happened 15 yrs ago when i was about 5 or 6, he was not much older than me and was fostered as his biological parents abused him. i feel that even though he had it done to himself he shouldnt have got away with doing it to me. the other 2 occasions occured when i was in my teens. i feel that i should do something about this toprevent them from abusing other innocent children. should i get them convicted?

Yes report it. I'm sorry it happened to you and I would get some counseling to help you cope. Even after they're convicted it is something you will always have to live with. Bless Your heart. Hugs.

The first one would not be seen as abuse as they were the same age as you and far too young to understand the concept of criminality.

The second two sound as if it is again people of the same age. It is likely it is just your word agains theirs. Therefore highly unlikely that the authorities would prosecute.

If all three were indeed people of your own age, done without violence and without witnesses I can't see what you can do or what you would achieve. Accusing someone now would not be pleasant for you or them and could cause lasting damage. Don´t forget those who you accuse can deny it and if not prosecuted or found guilty would have the right to sue you.

It sounds like the sort of think most kids go through in childhood. Most just get on with life and learn from the experience.

Best advice is to puit this all behind you and get on with your life.

YES YES YES
how would you feel if you KNOW you could have stopped them ruining another child's life for abusing them?!
That is just cruel...
Also, you deserve justice. At least you will KNOW you have tried to do what is right, and that will help you move on. They were sick and that is disgusting. They ruined your childhood. Of course you should do EVERYTHING within your power to get them convicted. It will go on their record anyway, which will help.
Please, I am begging you. How would you feel if you had kids and someone abused them that could have been prevented by someone going to the police?
You deserve it, so do others that are in potential danger.
Good luck Hun xxx

You should report it to the police.
In terms of a conviction, if the police have enough evidence they will put the case before the Crown Prosecution Service, who will make the decision as to whether it is in the public interest to prosecute or not.
Good that you can talk about this even if its only on this forum. Good Luck.

Yes.
Get a lawyer, go to the police and make a statement. It will not be easy for you to stand in a court of law and re-live what happened, if the police decide to prosecute, but it's already awful enough for you living with it day to day, I expect.
You need closure. Other children need protection. Paedophiles need to be stopped. Do the right thing and good luck. And please get some counselling for yourself.

I think you should do whatever you need to do to help you feel better about yourself. I was raped when I was 17, (over 40 yrs ago now) but over time it seriously affected my personality. Only many years later after talking about it with a therapist have I been able to realize that it was not my fault. That I did not encourage that person or anything. So talk to somebody who can make positive suggestions about your next step.
