The majority of american media is owned by a handful of mega-wealthy rightwing supercorporations.
These companies, are responsible for guys like Limbaugh and Billo Rielly being on 4 and 5 times a day.
The only time the "media" is accused of bein liberal is when these guys need a ratings boost or when the white house gets caught doing something illegal or immoral.
So they ***** about the left and preach the restrictive rhetoric. Then tell us "all media is liberal" ... What a crock of S#it!

I am addicted to news and I listen to news in English, French and Arabic from all over the world from all types of sources. I personally feel that overall, the American Media is "Pro Bush". Is it because they are controlled by GOP?, is it because in any way it is patriotic to support our president? is it because our media is after the big money wherever it is? I am not really sure! Your comments are welcome!

The word 'liberal' has become the new F-Bomb for conservatives. All they have to do in campaign ads is call their opponents 'flaming liberals' and WHOOPS, there goes another election. I saw it first-hand down here in Alabama. Practically every candidate on the ballot was a mossy-backed, ultra-right conservative, but they STILL manage to call each other liberals. It became a contest to see who came from the humblest background and who carried the biggest Bible to church every Sunday.

If you're talking about CNN leaning to the left and Fox News leaning to the right, then obviously some media outlets are liberal and others are conservative. But to suggest that almost all trained journalists somehow have it in for right-wingers really gets under my skin. I agree that the people who make the most noise about a 'liberal' press are those who get exposed by it.

If anything, I believe the local media generally reflects the social leanings of the local population. Where I live, a notoriously Red state, the local television stations and newspapers bend over backwards to promote conservative causes. I suppose the local media in a place like San Francisco spends a lot of time reporting on more liberal events, like the opening of a new recycling center or a demonstration at City Hall. Where I live, the same demonstration would have been covered as yet another non-event, where a handful of people made some noise.

Calling someone or something 'liberal' these days often feels like a desperate attack just before retreat. It works because we allow it to work. I'd like to see a swing in the other direction for a change-- people should start complaining about the 'conservative' media once in a while.

Well. You are half right. The majority of american media is owned by a handful of wealthy people. Although they are owned through corporations, those corporations are wholely owned and controlled by those handful of extremely rich *******.

However, those people are all socialists.....not right wingers, as you imply. And media bias is a fact that has been observed and measured. It's tracked by sites like the one I just supplied.

There is a repeating pattern on many issues. For example, Israel. Hamas will attack Israeli civilian areas with rockets. The military will show up and kill the idiots doing this. The news will report that Israel killed a bunch of palestinians without bothering to report the fact that they were Hamas soldiers attacking innocent civilians, that were killed. The amount of this crap going on is ridiculous in the extreme.

Because of the internet, this sort of thing is becoming more and more obvious. People learn the truth over the internet and then read the pack of lies printed in the next day's paper (or wonder why the story isn't even in the next day's paper). They stop reading the paper. What's the point?

And the bias is very clearly marxist in nature. Most people understand that current day marxists call themselves liberals. And they control the democratic party.

That's at least part of the reason why the country is turning so harshly against liberals and why the dems are finished as a political force in this country (at least until they purge themselves of liberals).

Yup, it sure is. Has been for decades. Libs dont seem to notice it much, but the otherside see's it. Its been so ingrained in our minds for so long its hard to detect for the uncaring, unnoticing mind, but if you know what to look for its so obvious. I look at the small stuff, an extra word here, a little slam there. And I look whats not said. In politics I notice when the media highlights "right wing republicans", and notice they rarely, if ever use such terms when describing the Dems. How often do you hear Liberal Democrat in the news? Probably never, except on talk radio, or the Fox chanel.

When Clinton was in office, his scandals for the most part were down played, with Monica being the exception. For Bush he is fighting some of the lamest attacks i've ever seen, in my opinion.

The media attacked the swiftboat veterans whom spoke out against John Kerry, while the have orgasms over Cindy SheeHAGS harrassment of President Bush.

The media is biased to the left, that is for sure.

In response to Panacea, that is the most BIASED website I've ever read. They seem to always talk about BBC which is obviously pro-Arab but what about American media? It is without a doubt pro-Israel. How man times have YOU seen Palestinian children and women on American TV news? How many times have you seen Palestinian homes being torn down by the Israelis just because they want to built one for the settlers? How many times have you seen kids being shot in school? You don't hear all this stuff in American news because they area ll controlled by wealthy Jews.

And yes the American media does have a liberal bias because most TV watching Americans are liberal and news, especially cable news needs to sell. Just look at the stories that sell, not ones that praise militarism or big business.

Why is a large corporation got to be right wing?(which is always conservative) They don't go hand and hand.

The media is predominately liberal leaning tho. Because, they publish what sales, and it sales. Without being extreme.

PS News flash for those who don't noe, there are more millionaires in the Dem party than in the Rep party

If you really looked at all the media you would see the liberal bias in it. They do not cover anything good that happens in Iraq not most of the places that the U.S. is involved when they do good. They print 99% of the things that the U.S. does wrong!
Has nothing to do with ratings.

The truth is usually supportive of the liberal stance on issues, not the reporters.
