I need a little direction from someone who is very familiar with native american culture?

I am doing a research project on native american culture (have to pick two or three tribes) am interested in researching those around vermont and canada but can choose any in north american. does anyone know what went/goes into the medicine bag? or where I can find some really great info on spirituality, as in totem animals, dreams, etc..... I have so many interests but I have to get it narrowed down... thanks..................

I'm not sure about the tribes that you are looking for, but you can check on the Lumbee Indians, a tribe from North Carolina. You can check the tribes website, www.lumbee.org, has a lot of information. There's also a website with different information about different tribes called www.500nations.com or www.500tribes.com. These are pretty helpful.

Ok. you are asking for a lot of information.

First, there are tons of Indians in Candada and around VT so look into that and then decide what to report on.

Second, no one in their right mind would tell you about their personal "medicine", so I suggest not even going there in the first place. Thats a very very personal thing to an individual. No one but the individual and the Creator should know about that. Shoot, even my Wife does not talk to me about that stuff.

Third, its important to remember that we are each very gifted, very intelligent people and there is no way that our cultures could be represented to their best extent without years and years of reasearch.
