Being a Cubs fan is not that hard. I love the Cubs. It is not about winning, I love the Cubs, my dad was a Cub fan, he would let me skip school to go to Wrigley and I do that now for my kids I take off work to go to a game. There is more to being a Cub fan than winning, I am just happy when we score, there is something about the Cubs, Wrigley Field, Wrigleyville, everyone is always friendly, No matter what the score or how the season is going true Cubs fans are happy and let nasty comments slide off us still supporting our Northside boys of summer. I grew up watching the Cubs, and they inspired me to play softball. There is no other park like Wrigley(well I have heard Fenway is comparable but have not made it there yet soon i hope though) The Bleacher Bums, the hot dogs, the Beer, I do miss Harry singing and Marla the ball girl I so wanted to be her when I was younger. It has been 34 years and I have and always will stick by my Cubs. No matter what, they play hard and are good to their fans! Wrigley is always a sell out win or lose. Anyone that knows me knows I am a Cubs fan, I wear my believe bracelet all year round I truly do believe. I do not believe in the goat curse or blame Bartman, it took my Red Sox 86 years. I have hope and faith that they will win a series in my lifetime, but if not I do not care, I would never foresake my Cubs. I will bleed Cubbie blue until the day I die. I am still waiting for season tickets been waiting for 4 years so far, even before the 2003 season.
For the record I do not hate the Sox, I just think their fans have very arrogant attitudes that need an adjustment, Yes they won the Series last year and I am glad because they are from Chicago, but I just have to ask where was all this boasting about your team being so great prior to the 2005 season, and where will you be when they have a losing season? Cub Fans are loyal and faithful to the core. We are there win or lose.

They secrectly have white sox envy. They like the Cubs because its the trendy thing to do. We actually got a couple of their outcasts down at the cell pretending to be Sox fans. It doesnt bother me anymore cuz the Sox got the ring but I will never understand why fans will continually fill the stadium, which is a dump by the way, when it is well known the Tribune company isnt trying to win games.

They root for them because of their long history, since 1876 and because of the many great players. They root for them out of civic pride, same as Red Sox fans, though the Sox were closer to winning than the Cubs over the many decades between "World" Series wins. Also, they have Wrigley Field. Gotta love that place. Also, there's the hope that they will get to be the fans that finally see the team win.

If you're a fan you are the fan regardless, win or lose. That's what being a fan is all about. I see it all the time. Sox won the world series. Now everyone is a Sox fan. Bull sh**. They are fake Sox fans. I don't care if the cubs never win a game, I still support them and that's what being a fan is all about.

The great thing about Cubs fans is that we epitomize a 'true fan'. We aren't your garden variety bandwagon fans or fairweather fans. Cubs fans stick with our team through thick and thin, good times and bad. It's really a shame that it isn't like this for other teams and in other sports. It's all about loyalty!
I personally root for the Cubs because I was born and raised 90 miles from Chicago. This area is part of Cub Country. And I'm proud to root for them. Granted, I wish they'd be more successful. But as long as they are making the effort to field the best team they can I'll be happy.

It isn't about winning or losing. It is the fact that the cubs are your team. I am an Indians fan and they never win... but I love them regardless. You shouldn't like a team just because they win all the time... yankees. You should like a team based on the players, the city, family, tradition etc.

The Cubs seem to have a lot of fans for the same reason the team will never be a serious contender. wrigley field. why would the tribune company invest in a team that will sell out regardless of their record.

People like to pull for a looser. The cubs sure fit that. I like to pull for the Cub because when they do win a game it is great.
