Sometimes people should keep their mouths shut, I know from personal experience. Don't have any harsh feelings toward him at all for not naming the baby what he said he would. Many times, people say things with the best intentions to only find out later that things are not going to work out like they originally planned. This might have been the situation where he wanted to name her Rosie, but just ended up taking another path for some unknown reason. Like mentioned before, it is his decision and it shouldn't be questioned.

Welllll, He has every right to change his mind and at the time he said it he must have felt he meant it enough to say it out loud. I don't understand why this would upset everyone so much. There are many cases when i agree that people should think before they speak or are sure of something but in this case it is his sister and his child and can change his mind a hundred times if he wants and should have the right to share his feelings. He could have felt very sure of himself that he was going to do it but then his feelings changed.

It sounds like Rosie's passing must have hit everyone pretty hard, but don't blame her brother. I'm sure he must be feeling pretty upset that Rosie isn't around anymore to see her niece. In his grief, he may have wished to honor his sister by naming the baby after her. Over time, though, he may have concluded that it would be too painful, or maybe he felt that his baby should have her own identity apart from her deceased aunt.
In any case, we're all human & have different ways of processing our grief. He needs support & compassion, not censorship. Perhaps it was awkward, but I doubt any harm was intended.

We all say and make promises that we don't keep at times. It is unfortunate that he decided not to honor his word but it is at the end of the day, his choice, his child. He may have received pressure not to do so from his wife/mother of the child, maybe it brought up memories...maybe ( I can only go by what you have stated ). Forgive him and enjoy the birth of this new life maybe you can ask him to give the baby a middle name of Rosie

I very much agree! Sometimes, we have to learn how to keep our mouths shut ( especially when we're not really sure of what we're talking about ) or else, we would have to swallow our own words (and we all know how bitter it tastes... )

It is his sister not yours.
I find it amazing that this man gave birth to a baby and you don't even seem to notice that miracle! You instead only worry about the baby's name???
Call "Ripley's believe it or not" and tell them about this man giving birth! You do know that most men are unable to give birth don't you?

Very true. I know people who don't have the courtesy or common sense to just keep their mouths shut. It only causes problems.

Yes we sometimes should keep our mouths shut because sometimes unconsciously we can say something we don't want. And about this guy. maybe at first his intention was like that but you should ask him.Maybe he changed his mind because of some reason that he don't want to tell.Maybe this name reminds him of his sister.
