For a newcomer to RC cars, how much will it cost for a starter kit ? Where can I get good and cheap RC models in Spore ? I prefer those powered by petrol /fuel.

Pick up Magazines like Radio Controlled Action and r/c trucks Find a good mom and pop store to ask questions and look at some of the RC races in your area.

There are other companies but checkout Tower hobbies.
Checkout EBay i bought plenty of built and unbuilt kits from them
Some kits come pre built and painted some you built, so take your time look around and enjoy

You need to determine what you want to use the car for and where you want to run it. If it is off road/ dirt - buy a buggy/ truck. For asphalt the choices are plenty - playing, drifting, and racing. 2wheel drive and 4 wheel drive?! If it is a petrol car you are looking prepare to spend a bit and do your research - have look at the FG product range - expensive!! But extremely durable and easy to maintain. Have a look at HPI - the E-Zilla = electric but heaps of fun. HPI BAJA 5 = Petrol and very expensive. Most of the fun is the actual set up of the vehicle and repairs afterwards - prepare yourself, there will be lots of hours spend on repairs. Don’t get involved if you don’t want to get your hands dirty and spend your off hours working on the car. Most important - make sure spares are available! Watch out not to become a "fanatic” when you start as you will burn a lot of money and you will burn out your enthusiasm for the hobby. Good luck.

For the very cheapest one in the hobby class (If an offroad truck is a substitute), try the Team Losi Mini-T RTR http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=LOSB0200 . If you want an actual buggy, get a DuraTrax vendetta http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXLAB1**&P=ML . Both are mini-electrics.

If you want a good fuel buggy (But fuel models cost more and are more complicated!), try the Nitro evader BX http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXDLL7**&P=ML or Team Losi XXX-NT http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=LOSA0887 (It's a stadium truck, but you can't get an RTR buggy from Losi) .

If you just want the speed of a gas model and want a computerized radio, and electric simplicity, get an Evader Pro BX, and equip it with a 7 cell battery. It goes around the speed of a similarly priced gas powered model.

You can click the links to buy them online, or you can visit your local hobby store.
