Ok, my co-workers keep calling me a brown noser. I'll admit - I do kiss my boss's butt sometimes, but other times I don't really look at it as brown nosing, just utilizing him as a mentor. He calls me a brown noser too sometimes though. He jokes around with me a lot, and I think people are kind of jealous. What are your thoughts/opinions?

If they are joking with you about it, there is probably some truth to it, but the like you, so don't worry. Just make sure to stand up for yourself when you disagree with the boss (professionally of course). As you move up the ranks, it is more and more important to have your own point of view and to be known for your character and what you stand for. As long as you are try to that, and all around you see the real you, cooperating with the boss is not a bad thing.
By the way, there are always people who are jealous of others in the workplace. Don't be drawn to their petty ploys.
Don't count on the boss and co-workers to give you recognition and affirmation. Develop your own quiet self confidence and derive your value from what you contribute and how you feel, not from what others say.

I have a boss that thinks I can walk on water. I don't think I'm a brown noser, I just do my job at 100% and beyond.

Look you have to work with people like this all the time I think that your their for one reason and that's a pay check you don't need to make Friends at work don't listen to them people if your being a nice person to much and its causing problems then just back off do your job and go home knowing you did your best and that's it !! If brown nosing can get you some Browne pnts to move up in the world then I say do it!!

Even if your boss calls you a brown-noser its a sign that you've
become one.

either a) bk off of him.......lay low for awhile cause if the manager is callin u brown noser than u probably are or
b) screw them(not literally) tell ur coworkers to get screwed and go about ur business.....

yes u are have u got a union if not if not take it he fire u not gone help u get a better job most boss want a person stand on there feet

There is nothing wrong with it...I think jealousy would have to come into play. Its kind of a good job security

Prolly best to just stop doing it as much and then not at all.Being disliked by your coworkers is not a good thing.
