Narcissists aren't chronic liars or sociopathic by definition. They're very ego-centric, which can seem sociopathic though. Narcissism is a personality disorder, but is basically only similar to sociopathy in the fact that neither one can be treated or cured.
If you're living with or dating a clinical narcissist, you may want to vacate yourself of the situation for your own mental health and well-being.

Firstly, what makes you certain your "friend" suffers from Narcisstic Personality Disorder?
Most people have some narcissitic tendencies to some extent.
He can be a sociopath and narcissistic: they are not mutually exclusive.
Your narcissitic friend may not consider himself to be lying. He may actually believe his version as the truth.
By defination, a narcissist is NOT aware he is driving you crazy as HE is the belly button of the universe and not concerned with YOU. Only with life and the world as it pertains to him.
If he does feel guilt he will immediately try to dilute or discount it as such. And, typically, blame you for not being on his side.
The real question is: why do you feel the need to associate with this person?

haha. definite. logically, it may iether be genuine or not genuine. if he's mendacity -- he's a liar (perhaps not persistent, yet a liar). if he's telling the fact -- then different stuff he says is lies. of route, there is the human selection -- he says what he THINKS is the fact yet he would not lie as a lot as he thinks he lies. yet, i'm particular he nonetheless will lie becuase he thinks he's a persistent liar. on the brilliant section, he likely isn't a sociopath. those adult males lie heartlessly to administration and could under no circumstances come out and tell human beings they lie and administration. so there's a aspect of honesty in admitting it. i had a pal who claimed to be a persistent liar at the same time as i replaced into in college which includes her, then denied it later. yet she replaced into. she made up pretend thoughts that each and every one contradicted one yet another. first she under no circumstances had a zit in her existence previously college and could under no circumstances call everyone a "crater-face" lower back. next year she claimed defended the toddlers with pimples in intense college. and 5 years later, she claimed she spent her finished baby-hood coated in pimples until eventually she found medical care as an man or woman. oh, and through that aspect, she wasn't a persistent liar anymore and everyone who ever confirmed they did not have self belief her replaced into serously offending and angering her.

Some answers convoluted sociopathy with narcisism - they are different, and neither necessarily involves lying. Narcisstic individuals are self-focused and often gravitate to public positions where expression of admiration and "fans" are likely. Sociopaths can do w.o. the approval.

The worst thing about that is, the narcissist doesn't even know what he/she is doing. Therefore they can never admit to it since they have no awareness of it.
They have no guilt. They never do anything wrong.
Any problem will always be your fault. If they are constipated, it's your fault.
Never heard of a cure.
(That last came from a psychologist, married to one.) As I was.
During m cancer surgery and recovery, it was my fault that she ....hell, you know. I got chewed every time she.......
It will never be any different. So sorry.
