November will tell for sure, but yes.
The PS3 will have 2 versions the $500 one will have a smaller hard drive and is mainly focused on being a game console. For $600 you will get a larger hard drive and the idea is for that to be your overall media center. You would be able to download lots more media, movies and music without running out of space. The other specs are the same: Blu-ray, 5.1 DD, wireless rechargeable and motion sensitive controllers, 10, 100, 1000 base T, WI-FI and Blue-Tooth, true High Def and backwards compatible with PS and PS2 games.
There are some stories out there about fewer features on the $500 version, but they are due to a misprinted spec sheet from Sony, but that doesn't stop the PS haters and X-Box nazi's from telling everyone. Also the "developer issues" are old news, PS3 should launch with no fewer than 19 games. Will they be using 100% of the PS3 power? No, new systems launch games never do (look at Black for the 360 next to the PS2 version), but the games are coming and the console has some major power.

This question is logical.
In terms of graphics and speed, yes, PS3 will rock PS2 badly and PS3 owns.
It's too pricey for the time being, wait one year after it's official release for lower price and more choices of games.
