Is it possible that love can fade despite your best efforts? That maybe it just wasn't meant to be?

Unfortunately, yes. Some people are addicted to falling in love, those heady first months when you can't wait to rip each others clothes off are exciting. But when the newness wears off, they become listless and seek out the thrill that has gone missing in the relationship. They begin to notice their lover's quirks and annoying habits. Soon the relationship is in trouble.
But I think that is when the real work begins. When you choose to love your partner in spite of his or her deficiencies. If you can make it to that point, and make a choice to continue I think that you can make it work.

i don't know if love fades necessarily. maybe the type of love changes over time. for example, you used to love your partners sense of adventure, it was awesome! now, you may just want to settle down and relax. passion, puppy love and pure physical attraction sometimes get all jumbled up! i think if someone finds that person they don't want to ran away from then love will evolve and be an enduring force worth fighting for and enjoying!

No but it definitely has limits..It can fade if its not meant to be but not without reason..Love is very complicated and deep and very special when it is the right in a situation..=)

Yes, I think love fades with time because we stop appreciating one another and the newness wears off and gives way to boredom, familiarity, and then deceit.

No I think love has no "shelf life". BUT you can fall out of lust with someone, and I think it is possible to LOVE someone but not LIKE them very much.
