I don't see any reason not to mention 9/11 as long as it is done with respect, the same as any other disaster.

I fail to see why anyone would be afraid of mentioning a period in History in which so many people gave so much to help other people.

A time when a nation famed for it's people's selfishness and greed, stopped purely to help others, supporting them in the thousands. I personally feel that 9/11 should be mentioned more often, but only in respect of the gratitude that people should feel, if not for themselves or loved ones that were in the disaster, but for the simple fact that at any time it could be one of us who will need that outpouring of love and support in a world of Terrorism.

The question shold not be "Why can we not mention 9/11?" but "Why can't we stop mentioning 9/11?"

It seems to me that the tragedy, which killed thousands of people, will be held up for years as a reason for governments around the world to hold prisoners illegally and withhold information from their people.

It has come to the point where any reasonalble enquiry of the governments actions can be turned aside by even a half competent press officer blaming the actions of a few men on this fateful day.

The difference between 9/11 and 7/7 here in the UK is that while we also had our tragedy, we are not part of the "Bad News" culture ahich has taken the US by storm. The USA is ready to believe that the world is against them, and that they are the only people to have been targetted, not because of stupidity or arrogance but because this is what their government are constantly telling them through the media. The result: You all ow the government to get away with ANYTHING!

9/11 was without doubt a tragedy, but is nothing compared with the way both our leaders have dealt with the aftermath: Tens of thousands dead in Iraq and Afghanistan, our soldiers dying daily in foreign countries, and ever more countries turning their back on both the US and the UK as a result of our foreign policy.

I agree with Sir J, However, when enough people get together, in a large public forum, with good information that implies that elements within the US Government and Military knew of, and manipulated events that day, then the truth gets out. Big business and politics don't want the obvious to become common knowledge.

WTC 7! therein lies the smoking gun. The leaseholder, Larry Silverstien, admited as much. "We decided to Pull it and we watched it collapse" how long would it take to wire up and a 47 story building for a controlled demolition? It must have been planned in advance.

You really don't care if we can or cannot mention 9/11.
All you care about is having your question deleted so that you have something to complain about.

Who says you cant mention it? There are a dozen questions every day which refer to it across the whole spectrum of being a reason for war thru to the loonies who think it didnt happen.

Why can't we mention it? Yes it brings sadness to those many countries who's citizens perished at the hands of the terrorist. (It wasn't all Americans) But I think we can talk about it now without getting too emotional.

Mate there are lots of things about 911 that wont get mentioned, but you are going about the wrong way of alerting people to this, I think.

We can mention it, but the anger and pain from that dreadful morning still burns in our minds. We have resolved nothing. No one has really paid. Osama bin Laden is still out there, laughing at us, thinking of other ways to murder our citizens in the name of some god called Allah.
