Yes, it will not only be better, but it is better already then that in Vietnam because our troops have overthrown a feared and hated monstrous dictatorship and have helped the Iraq people elect a free government that is now running the country and that government has asked our nation to keep our troops there to help them wipe out the radicals who are targeting Iraqis more than they are going after our troops. In time the Iraq people will erect a monument to the men and women of America who gave up their lives so that they could live in freedom without fear of their government.

It depends on in which sense you mean "better". In general, I'd say yes. The population in Iraq is for the most part exstatic to see the end of Saddam. It's literal truth, that among the Iraqi government services, brother would turn in brother. People there knew that there were either informants, or "volunteered" snitches. If someone spoke of dissent and it was heard, they'd die. They also knew that if someone approached them (in some cases family members forced into it) to dissent, the person could be a plant, and NOT reporting them could make you dead. This is just one example of the twisted grip Saddam's regime held on that country. On the other hand, Iraqis also are uncertain of what the future holds. To some, a familiar tyrant is better than the unknown.
As far as combat goes, it'll be as bad for them or worse. Urban combat is among the most stressful, and deadly of any battlefield. Any seemingly benign article (trash can, mailbox, etc) could hold an explosive device. On a street, you may see say, 1000 windows. ANY of them can hide a sniper. The next corner may hide an enemy ambush. You're among the civilian population. One has to watch them all, as any may be an enemy. One has to fight around the real civilians, and protect them. It's guaranteed that some bystanders will die in the crossfire. Some of them will be children. There's no more heartbreaking agony than seeing a dead child. Every soldier (with a soul that is.) who sees this, will be haunted by it for the rest of his life.
Who knows for sure? Let's just hope our G.I.'s don't come home to the "Love movement" like the Vietnam vets did. The hippies who spat, and referred to them as baby killers are worse than cowards, and are only safe because there's so many people better than they.-Both civilian and military.

You know, I grew up during the vietnam era and yes, Every night on the evening news they would anounce the number of dead and wounded for the enemy as well as the allied troops, and our loses were usally 30 or 40 a day. But did you know that the soldiers then were told not to wear their uniforms home because people would spit on them or call them baby killers. Now their called hero,s. Something to think about on the 4th of july.

Its the same thing. The only difference is that this one is in the desert. Bush's War will go on forever unless we get a Democratic administration and they bring the troops home.

Both were lead by the Bush family..

Go figure..

Only god can judge them and I imagine them working as servants in HELL..

Simply because what goes up must come down so in that fact there will come the day they die having to face god for the good and bad they have done. but then again for every action there is a reaction and the reaction is meant for a reason.. think about it

Simply wishing you the best of luck,

Garry

No, the situation is worse. Our President lied to the American people, he lied to the U.N. and he lied to the rest of the word, telling them that we were going after WMD. At least in VietNam, as senseless as it was, there was no lying about why were went.

The biggest difference is the reception back here at home. They will be accepted as heroes. We were spit on and worse. Men who had hazarded their lives in great demonstrations of sacrifice for their buddies, were spit on by people who weren't worthy to kiss their boots.
