Wal Mart is probably the world's greatest distribution company, and that's what I admire about them. Sam Walton once said, when he was starting his company, "I believe that I could 'out-Kmart Kmart," meaning that he could do a better job at what K-Mart did than K-Mart itself. I think that he proved he was right.
It's not Wal-Mart that's evil. It's the people who shop there that sign the death warrant for small business. Wal-Mart wouldn't be successful at all if the American public decided not to shop there. The point is, for all the rhetoric that is levied at Wal-Mart, by and large, America wants the lowest price they can get, so they go to the super-distributor with the smiley face. If all the people who say they care so genuinely would actually NOT shop at Wal-Mart, they could make a difference in their cause.
I try to find balance. I shop the local farmer's market for my produce when its in season. I shop a local employee-owned grocery store for my groceries. I do buy SOME things at Wal-Mart. Why shouldn't I? If Wal-Mart can deliver the same goods at a lower price, why shouldn't I?

Wal-mart has a history of keeping its female employees under the thumb. It also has a history of driving out all the small mom and pop stores around. And the quality of many of its products are so low, maybe it has become the true reflection of American Culture. We all want low prices but high wages, an economic impossibility as cheap labor is needed to make low priced goods. Wal-mart is taking the foundation of America away and the disturbing thing is those that are most effected by it are their biggest customers.

Yeah, Wal Mart is 3 dimensional evil. However, they make it hard to not shop there when you're on a tight budget.
Whatever happened to their "Made in America for America" slogan? Oh yeah, Sam died and his greedy kids took over. When I do have to go there, I remind myself that I am helping to keep food on the table for the poor folk that HAVE to work at my local store. If we all stopped shopping there, there would be many single moms and retired people out of work and struggling worse than they do now with their little Wally's paycheck. I do worry, however, that those people are also spending that puny check AT their Wal Mart store!!!
Evil is real, you can not get away from it.

I think wal-mart is evil because they try to coerce american companies to move their production to china so wal-mart can get a higher profit margin out of the products without raising prices.

Wal-mart is not evil.........but at the same time, i won't call them saints. They have absolute buying and selling power.....and their employees don't have any employee powers. It sounds more like a dictatorship.

I do not like it. I think it takes from small businesses and that their prices are not always better they also have little customer service if you go into a place like Albertsons you actually are taken care of and they are willing to compromise anytime they do not have a product.
