The World Trade Center movie is scheduled for release on August 9th, 2006, is it too soon almost 5 years later and will you go see it?
I think it still is too fresh in our minds even 5 years later and no I won't see it because I feel Hollywood will give us a fictionalized account because no one knows for sure what happened right before the planes crashed in to them. Not to discredit anyone who lost a family member and gave accurate information of last words or what happened but stories tend to get twisted, elaborated and just flat out made up in order to make their story the most important. The only people that really know what was said and done at that final moment are no longer with us.

I think this movie and any other movie that has ever been made about events that only the people there knew what really happened is just one man's idea of what MIGHT have happened.

The same is true for the recent movie -- gosh, what was the name? -- Flight 97 or something? The plane that crashed in Pennsylvania. Did you see THAT movie?

This movie brings home to Americans the drama, the tragedy, the horror of what happened that day. The closest any of us came to what happened has been news reports, which kept us separated from actually becoming very personal with those that died.

I plan to see the movie and hope that millions do. I hope it makes people aware of how terrible it was what these crazed, murderous, evil Islamic extremists did to thousands of innocent people.

I hope those that flew the planes into the buildings are burning in hell.

Yes, I plan on seeing the movie and I think you should, as well.

Yes, I'm ready. And so is America.

This same argument was used against the film "United 93" which came out a couple of months ago, and yet the families of those who were on the flight were united (no pun intended) in their desire that the film go forward. Every film changes the story a bit...nothing on the silver screen or the television is EXACTLY as it happened. The story is told from a certain point of view.

I think it's part of the healing process that our nation goes through to see this movie, and I will definitely be going to see it. We should always remember September 11. After five years, we have a tendency to forget. We need to remember, and this movie will help.

May it never happen again.

Yes in fact it should not have been made at all. I find it very distasteful to be reminded of such an horrific event. Of course we should NEVER forget what happened,I don't think we need a movie to remind us! This film is billed as "A true story of courage and survival" I question that.I think it should be about the death, destruction and misery that it caused. No doubt they will make millions from it,can THAT be right? I remember still,5 years on,how I felt then, and still now, whenever the subject arises. One has to ask, how exactly are the family, relatives of the deceased will feel about it?? I for one will not go to see it and line the makers pockets with gold.it would be a very good idea if they donated the money made from this movie to charity. So yes, I agree with all you say. Well done you!!

I think it's more the fact that Hollywood will dramatise and make parts up that is the problem rather than the timing, although the timing is bad too.
I think if the film was made with the same respect and sensitivity as, say, Schindlers List then it might be ok maybe in a few years, but definitely not now.
And, no, I definitely wouldn't watch it.
By the way, I'm from Ireland but the World Trade Center events did hit me hard even though I didn't know anyone who died.

I'm ready to see it. I know that's it s going to be hard to watch it , and bring back bad memories one that one day the world saw evil, and i agree with you it is to soon for a movie to be made. But its even hard to watch the trailer and all you want to do is cry, and think about the families that lost love ones, and show much damage and pain what this country has gone through, and we should always remember that the attack is now in history, and if your ready see it and if your not don't, it all depends if we as a country stand up together in a time we all needed each other in the most hard times.

Coming from a New Yorker I'm going to see it.

I'm guessing you're talking about the movie with Nicholas Cage in it, and according to imdb.com, it's based on a real group of rescue workers. So it's not completely made up in dealing with the rescue mission and what went on in the towers, as I'm sure some of the rescue workers gave the movie producers their input.

Do I think it's too soon to make a movie about it? Not really. Does that mean I'm going to go see it? Not necessarily.
I saw the preview for it last night when I went to the movies, and that alone made me cry.

I suspect the horrifying images, heartbreaking sounds, and terrible memories surrounding the tragic events of 9-11 may always be far too vivid in the minds of those who lost loved ones and friends that day. I'd imagine the majority of them may choose to never see the movie, much the same way that many World War veterans have chosen to avoid movies like Saving Private Ryan and Pearl Harbor. Yet I also feel it's important that we, and future generations, never forget such tragedies lest history repeat itself. I'll go see the movie, and I'll continue to pray for all those who lost their lives and for those of us who are still suffering from those loses.

I'm ready for it. I saw Fight 93 and plan to see United 93 when it comes out on video. Whether you like it or not The attack on the United States is now part of The US history. I'm sure when Pearl Harbor was attacked way back when it was the same feeling as we are feeling now. We need to embrace our history and learn from it. I believe that hollywood makes tons of movies on our history and is this case it isn't any different as when they made the movie about WW2 (Pearl Harbor). I believe that we need to see this and stand strong and remember the past but live for today and for the future.

I will not see it, and am disgusted that Conspiracy nut Oliver Stone did this one. It is WAY to soon, if I need a movie to remind me of my anger and dismay of 9/11 than I have a severe short term memory problem.
I will never want to see actors and special effects trying to recreate the most horrible affront to my country, ever.
I liked Tora, Tora, Tora!, but only because Pearl Harbor hapened before my time. Wait a couple decades for people who didn't witness 9/11 to get a history of the event.

Is it me? I will not see the WTC movie or the other one about the people on the plane. (Flight 97) I hate that hollywood is makeing money off the pain.
Maybe it's just too soon for me. But, I can't even sit through the ads for this movie.
Maybe in 50 years or so.
