So very true! I mean, I don't have to go to school for an education! I is prefect know! And I don't need to work at a good job. Any job will feed me.......... heck......... why get a job??? WELFARE is the way to go! And, like, I live in the USA, so I'm all free and happy. Why in the world would I want to share that with other countries???? That is LUDICROUS.
Wishing and praying and mantras psych us up. They put us in a mind set to do more with our lives. Why ask for more than you have? Do you have all that you need? Now, asking (and using) for more than you need seems a little greedy. But, who are you to determine what I need? (and vice versa)
and a few points
1. Society is a non-entity..... it doesn't treat me any which way, the people in a society do
2. Things do chase me around and try to kill me. I went camping last month and almost ran into a bear! (thought I was going the terrorism route, didn't you?)
3. I am not supplied with services by fellow people. I work for my living. I am an interdependent being that takes only as much as she gives, thank you.
4. Are you so perfect that you have no room for improvement?
5. Why not ask not to be crippled? Who wants to be crippled? Of course, more than ask, they should work to find cures and aids for disability.

(if i was the only 1 who could answer your question..would you want me to?)... think about you own question....it is not logical,it makes no sence..beacause what you are saying indirectly is you never hurt, you never get angry if someone destroys something you love, that you've never daydreamed about other worlds or silently prayed to pass an exam knowing u did not study for it. have you ever been so hurt that you would give anything for that pain to dissappear?so u pray....
what if you KNEW for a fact that if you prayed hard enough you would get what u pray for..would u pray? what if someone blindfolded you and asked you to trust them...would u? thats how people live...they pray because they trust something out there to tell them they are worth something and that they aren't living without a purpose, that the things that happen all around us,the wars the famine are part of something that will soon end. That maybe when they pray, although thay do not know there is a God out there who loves them unconditianally they still know that their own power will not do for them what they most want. there isn't a cure for every disease out there..but if u got sick and it was incurable..would u pray to live a little longer on a world you describe as..."Earth organized into a solid form that is hospitable to life"?!

Is your soapbox high enough? When you're done preaching at the rest of us, you should stop and think about all the things that YOU want and don't have. Me, I'm happy with what I have, but that doesn't mean I will stop trying to improve my life and the lives of those around me. If that involves a little wishing and praying, whoopee.

How do you think that the USA got to be as great as it is ?! It is the very thoughts of wishing, praying, hoping , and dreaming that give us the incentive to achieve. Without these we would all just be sitting around doing nothing not even caring about the answer to this question!

Very nice prose. I agree with most of it.
I try not to bother God with petty concerns since I am just one small person in His big universe, but I am continually shocked that He finds ways to let me know I am important to HIm.
Like last night at a prayer meeting they asked if anyone needed prayers for a physical need, I was having trouble breathing and since only a few raised thier hands I did too. When we gathered in a small circle to pray, they just started praying without asking what we needed prayers for. I had my eyes closed, suddenly I felt a hand on my breast bone, right over my lungs! A lady was praying in the spirit without ever knowing that I was having asthma-I just cried.

Because most people are never satisfied no matter what or how much they have. I really don't consider that a bad thing. I'd rather have hopes and dreams and goals, than to sit back and say, Oh well this is the best I'll ever have. Wanting more, keeps a person motivated.

I used to think this way, and to some extent, I still do. However, I do pray for things, but in the understanding that there are a lot fo prayers and God will answer mine in the way He sees fit, not necessarily in the way I expect. The reason this is not an issue is simple. God is infinite and can hear all prayers, and while there are needy people the world over, many moreso than those of us here in America, God hears ALL prayers.
Here are the prayers we do each night with our two girls:
"God Bless Mommy, Daddy, Savannah, Grace, Patsy, Jack, Grandmom in Heaven, and all family and friends. Love you God. Thank you God. Goodnight God."
I think this about covers it, don't you?
((Incidentally, Savannah and Grace are my girls, while Patsy and Jack are our two dogs.)

First, not nearly everyone has everything they need. Millions live in poverty and question where they will get their next meal. Most of those just pray for enough to live through the day. For those that pray for unnecessary things, its not stupid, its greedy, and they most likely will get an answer of no, if that is their motive.

Prayer is the reason you live in a country that supplies all of your needs. Even if it doesn't feel like it sometimes, this is a Godly country with many prayers being said for peace. Prayer for those less fortunate than ourselves, a selfless prayer, goes to the throne of God every day. Prayers to change people's hearts from their harden, bitter hearts and have them receive understanding is our humble prayer each day.
