I'm selling these Mexican serape handbags on eBay, they're cool and not expensive, but I can't seem to make anyone interested in buying them... what am I doing wrong?

Ignore those that are being rude and calling the product "stupid" or "ugly." As I'm sure you know, 90% of the people on here are out to hurt peoples feelings and not actually offer help whatsoever.
I think it's a nice bag. Certainly someone out there would love to buy it. Perhaps you could try lowering the price a bit, maybe to $5? I find that the more round number a price is (such a $1, $3, $5, $10..), the more luck you'll have. $9 is a little high for the bag, especially because most people will figure they can find a similar bag at a yard sale, flea market, or in a department store for close to the same price. Since the buyer needs to pay for shipping, that may be a turn-off, as well. If you can afford it, try making the shipping free. Maybe make the entire item $9, including shipping. Or perhaps make the price $13-$15, including shipping. Usually when buyers see free shipping (or the shipping is included in the price), you're more likely to sell the item.
Also, is there any way you can prove the item is authentically made in and from Mexico? There are so many scam artists on sites like eBay that it turns off many buyers. If you can provide proof of authenticity, that will attract more buyers, as well. I know myself, personally, I'm very skeptical about buying items over the internet unless the seller can prove that the item is actually authentic and/or made and sold from where they are claiming.

Sorry, but eBay is about selling what others want to buy. Just because you have a product doesn't make it attractive to the bargain hunters.
Have you tried looking at the eBay Pulse or the What's Hot areas? This is where you can find out what people have been buying.

try bringing more people in to see your item, in your desciption try typing purse,handbag, not louis vutton, etc...
