I'd say out west. There's plenty of things to see (i.e. Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon) and since some of the places don't have a lot of people on the roads there is no speed limit.

Senior in high school? All boys? Yikes! Best to plan this well, with some ground rules you ALL agree on too. No drinking and driving, (no drinking at all would be even wiser), or drugs, and money--you have to stay somewhere and that costs, plus you have the big G (gas) to contend with also. Make sure you have a code of ethics too, behavior is mature (as much as possible), have respect for others (nothing worse than being in a hotel room next to 8 rowdy males) and treat the ladies along the way as if they were your sisters. Drive safely to protect yourself and others (watch speed/fatigue).
Places to go; NYC (see the sights, from the Statue of Liberty to a Broadway show), MD (eat some of that great soft shell crab at a crab house), PA (visit the beautiful countryside), DC (see the historic monuments, museums, etc.), go to the beach (any good one along the eastern coast).
Make it memorable, take pictures, enjoy it because you will remember something like that for the rest of your lives.

you would get a guidebook and look by it for ideas. i in my opinion like Lonely Planets and they have an inclination to be geared in the direction of the more youthful and broke, so that they'd be a strong tournament for what you want to do... in case you want to do a classic vacation by the statechronic to l. a., then as a lot as San Francisco by the Coast (Hwy a million) and then visit the Sierras (Lake Tahoe, Yosemite, King's Canyon NP) earlier heading back to CO. even as in l. a. you could also head all the way down to San Diego (it really is a noticeably cool city) and Tijuana (besides the undeniable fact that you want passports, and that i'm somewhat no longer certain how probability-free it really is at present...) The California Coast is noticeably awesome, and there are a great number of robust cities alongside the way in case you want helpful seashores, or only a strong position to relax--Santa Barbara, Monterey, Santa Cruz, etc. San Francisco and the Bay section actually have outstanding surroundings. The CA state parks internet web site would probable have information on seashores that enable camping out.
