There is no disadvantage.

When we, as a society, empower people, we simply give them the power to be the masters of their own destinies.

We let them choose their own paths and we let them succeed or fail on their own strengths and weaknesses. We do not impose artificial weaknesses on them, we do not place restrictions or limitations on what they can strive for or how far they are allowed to climb.

In short, we stop holding them back.

I can think of 2 disadvantages right off...

1) Double-shift. Mom goes to work and puts in her 9-5 (or whatever the schedule is), then comes home and puts in another 6-8 hours being "Mom"- housecleaning, dishes, meal prep, hauling kids to... whatever they have, laundry, etc. (See if you can find a man who can juggle that!)

2) Death of chivalry. Because we are "empowered", now, some men think that we will be offended if they open a door for us or make sure we have a place to sit before they plant their tush....

Mother nature, (periods) and a woman's scorn is a most unpredictable and dangerous part of her being, and that only answers the disadvantages, but bear in mind that many women are every bit as qualified as their male counterparts in regards to achieving and maintaining top positions in any field.

That would depend on the woman - women who have achieved positions of political power (Margaret Thatcher, Indira Gandhi, Benazir Bhutto, etc.) haven't shown that they're any better (or worse) than most men who've been in control, I'd say.
So, I guess they'd be no disadvantage - and no advantage, either.

None, unless we get too empowered.. The feminine and the masculine need to be in balance, otherwise it's bad either way.

I would have to say the double standard. i.e. wanting equal pay and status but still expecting the man to buy dinner. Other than that I don't really see a downside as intelligence and independance are turn-ons for me.

I agree with johnslat. But mind you these women didn't have to do their own housekeeping.
