A breastfed baby should have a *minimum* of 5-6 very wet diapers and 2 dirty diapers per day (but she may have 6-8 per day, too).
A very wet diaper has about 2 T. of urine in it; if you aren't sure, take a clean diaper and pour 2 T. of water into it, then weigh it in your hands so you'll know. As baby grows, she'll still have at least 5-6 wet diapers per day, but "very wet" goes up to about 4 T.
A dirty diaper is one that has a spot from the bowel movement at least the size of a US quarter. As baby gets older, she will have more bowel movement, but she may have them more often *or* just larger ones. After 6 weeks (but occasionally earlier), some babies have one bowel movement every few days (up to once every 2 weeks or occasionally *less* often), but in this case, it will be huge. Some babies continue to have a spot on the diaper with each feeding. And some have a large bowel movement once or twice a day.

Babies who are newborn use a lot of diapers. Babies do dirty or wet a lot of diapers depends on their eating or drinking time. Some change diaper less times but some change a lot. But not to worry, newborn babies use a lot of them. The number of diapers is unpredictable.
If you are not sure, you can check these websites I look up for you.Maybe your answer could be there.

You baby should have at least 7-10 wet diapers a day and at least one to two dirty diapers a day. As long as she is having wet diapers then this means that she is getting enough liquid. If you are breastfeeding your baby then the baby may have one dirty every other day or even go without having a dirty diaper for up to 5 days. The reason that the baby may not be having a poop, with breast milk, is because it is very easy to digest, unlike formula. I had this happen to me and I was very worried. I talked to my doctor and he told me that he has seen babies go 5 days without pooping. If the child is not struggling or in distress when having a poop then she is fine and not constipated. The reason that the baby may not be having a poop, with breast milk, is because it is very easy to digest, unlike formula. Good Luck and Enjoy the baby!!!

You really should change your daughter every three hours or so, or at every feeding. The diaper will probably be wet. As for doo doo, once or twice a day. You will probably go through about 20 - 24 diapers a day.

It depends on if you breastfeed or not. If you breastfeed, you are likely to have more dirty diapers then with formula. You on an average should have 2-4 dirty diapers-give or take-and 5-6 wet diapers-give or take.

Babies eat (nurse) about 5 to 8 times each day, right?
and, every time that tiny stomach (said to be the size of the baby's fist!) is empty, guess where the contents went?
All my babies, and grand-babies, got diaper changes about 8 to 12 times a day!
Don't even think of 'skipping' a diaper check! You get to stay up all night with the crying from the painful diaper rash!

I work at a daycare and most of our infants in an 8 hour time period have 2-3 bowl movements and 3-4 wet diapers during that time frame. I hope this helps. I'm sure it depends on how much the child is taking in on a daily basis. If you think your child is not having enough consult your pediatrician.

If you are breastfeeding, she should have at least 6 wet diapers and 4 bowel movements (yellowish).
Fewer wet diapers could be indicative of the baby getting dehydrated.
If you're bottle feeding, it would be approximately the same, but they may have fewer dirty diapers, and they would be less liquid in nature.

I have two girls 3 years and 8 months. The dr told me that there should be 8-12 wets and 2-3 dirty. If you're breast feeding then the dirty will be way more, at least it was with mine kids. Basically everytime they ate they were changed. And then i changed them at other times too if they needed it.

At least 6 to ensure they are getting enough to eat and all systems are functioning.
But, and this is important, newborns pee and poop constantly, so you will exceed that most days until the baby is about 6 or 7 weeks old when things slow down a little.
Congratulations on your new little baby!
