I tend to have heavy periods with clotting (which I'm told is normal for some women).

Other than getting birth control pills from the doctor--are there any natural remedies that can lessen my periods?

Soy. Drink soy milk and eat some tofu.
This got me through some really bad ones in my early 40's. I was missing work at least tiwce a month for 2 or 3 days sometimes. It was so bad at times that I couldn't get dressed and stay dressed. I was takeing showers all day just to try and stay clean and the pain was overwhelming.
Soy is just a regular part of my diet now. I feel great!

Losing weight. Many women who have that problem are overweight. Losing 10 lbs can greatly reduce the clotting, bleeding, and may lessen pain. If you are not overweight, then you are out of luck. Go see a doctor. Ditch the Birthcontrol. There are better medications.

One of the best way to solve this issue is to take vitamin K rich foods like Spirulina, or green leafy veggies like kale or collards. This clotting factor will reduce the bleeding rather effectively and nourish the body to help with recovery, and regeneration of hemoglobin thanks to the chlorophyl.
