I am one of the most awesome people I know, but no - I'm not better than anyone else - everyone has potential and I know plenty of people who are better then me in many ways.

Why would I ever think that? Like the above poster said, there are so many people that are good at things where I am not so good.
Thinking that you are better than everybody else is very arrogant.

I know that I´m not better than anyone else since there are many things that I can´t do: swim, cook, drive a car and much more...

Better is a subjective term that, in the phrasing of your question, implies a state of social being. That state in itself is subject to ever changing social pressures. The question we need to ask is "Am I a better person than I was yesterday...last week...before I logged on" The crux is that we have no way to gauge ourselves so we have to rely on our own actions as proof of both our commitment to that which is right and that which we choose not to see in ourselves.

Yes, because it gives me a feeling of being justified. I know it's stupid, but probably everybody else thinks he/she is better in some way than others.
