Just go to...

Control Panel

Sounds and Audio Devices

Click the sounds tab

Under program events click the event you want the sound to play for
(open windows, exit windows, etc.)

Then click browse to set an audio clip for you computer as that sound.

Click apply.

Hope this helps!

Hey!

To add sounds at Start-up and Shutdown:

1. Open the Start Menu

2. Open Control panel.

3. Open the icon labeled "Sounds and Audio Devices"

4. You will see tabs at the top, open the one labled Sounds

Cheers!

Go into control panel and click on sounds, there you can set what sound you would like to hear on start up and end on your computer. As far as e-mail goes, go into the options within your e-mail program and there should be a place to have different sounds when new mail arrives.
