I can sort of explain the dreams. If you imagine your brain as a computer, It builds up data in it's temporary files every day. When you sleep, it puts these temporary files into the main memory files (like the C drive). Your brain automatically decides where each memory will go. It tends to put them with similar memories or with something that happens in both memories, eg your team won a game the same day that you ate carrots. Your dreams are created due to your brain sorting through the data and filing them away in it's unique way, that's why you dream about carrots playing football that night (or whatever). The brain is a very strange organ.

No, I haven't got any answers but I talk in my sleep and I once had a conversation with an ex girlfriend about me being able to smell gas from downstairs. How could I of smelt it whilst asleep? How could I of had a conversation about it? And the oven was electric anyway, so I was lying in the first place. The silly ex still went and checked. Then I woke up. She punched me for making her go downstairs and check the oven!!!

I didn't know, I was asleep!!!!

Oh my gosh my boyfriend does both it's scary sometimes, he's walked down our basement stairs sleeping and dislocated his collar bone, He's eaten literally a pound of cheese in his sleep, he's tried to eat frozen sausages in his sleep, he's tried to eat my cigarrette case in his sleep that list goes on and on. I've had full blown coversations with him in his sleep also, he's sat up on the couch with his eyes open and carried on a full blown coversation and the next morning didn't even remember it. He's a roofer and I have even caught him working in his sleep not actually on the roof but talking to his guys and telling them what to do and even the hand motions of him putting shingles on. I don't know why they do it but it's bad when he is stressed at work. He says I talk in my sleep sometimes too, I think he's a liar but if I think back to those times I was really stressed when I was doing it.

I sleep talk - but it's usually swearing at someone or shouting at them in my dream. I've woken my husband a few times. Don't know what it is because my life isn't particularly stressful. Perhaps it's just things on my mind...

Well when you are dreaming and say your going swimming you just get up and go swimming. When you are sleep talking you might be talking to anybody in your dream. I dont think you can wake yourself when you are sleep talking because you might be dead asleep.

truth is, we don't know what happens when we sleep. It's the closest thing to death we can get... except for dyin'. Think about it... What time did you go to sleep last night? (no one can answer that)... now why do we sleep walk/talk? not sure... you're supposed to be paralyzed while you sleep as to not act out your dreams (which would be harmful to yourself and those around you).

I'm a sleepwalker but I found that I only do it when I am under lots of stress, so maybe that has something to do with it?
