Not always, but it makes sense. Its kind of futile to prescribe medication to make you ovulate if your tubes are blocked.

I think so. My OB/GYN did not have one done, but the RE did one before trying any treatments. An HSG rules out lots of problems (blocked tubes, uterine septum, etc). Better to find out sooner rather than later so you can get any problems fixed. The test isn't bad really-over pretty quick.

Mine wouldn't give us clomid until I had one done...and I was dreading it. Honestly its not so bad of a test and I had no pain at all after. Some women even get preg. soon after having their hsg done. good luck!
