Instead of cutting half my face off, I bought a decent razor and it works! Don't get 5 o'clock shadow but shave every morning, so not really hairy. Blades are pricey compared to Bic! Can you use them 3 or 4 times? If anyone has bought them on Ebay, do you have any skin left using them?

After you've used a blade, wash it and remove it from the razor, (but don't throw it away). Next time use a new blade, then wash that and remove it and so on. When you have run out of unused blades put the first back in and it'll be like new, and a set of blades used in this way will last almost indefinitely. This is because the edge of a blade can recover if it is "rested" but it takes several days and one blade used every day cannot recover.
Before safety razors were invented people had "seven day sets" of cut-throat razors that did not need to be honed because of this phenomenon.

RE:
"Gillette Mach 3" razor (not the vibrating one). How many times do you use each new blade?

Super expensive. bought some new blades last night and they were more than a fiver for 4!!. I usually use them for anywhere from 6 - 12 shaves but I only shave every 2-3 days. Dont know if time is a factor to consider. But they can definately get a bit scratchy after a couple of weeks. I put up with the degeneration for a while because it makes using a new blade all the more satisfying.

The Mach 3 is the best razor I have used...(stay away from the Shick Quatro if you like your skin - it's like waxing you face). I can shave up for an absolutely baby smooth shave, with no irritation/razor burn - I can't get that from any other razor. It's the best out there. I use my Mach razor at a minimum of 3 or 4 times and have a semi heavy beard. It may be slightly more expensive, but you get ALOT of shaves, and your face stays intact. So in my opinion, your really not paying more at all.

Also, you can talk your wife into getting the ladies version to shave her legs...and then steal her razors (like I do) - there pink, but other than that their the same.

Speaking in terms of a razor's life, it depends upon the facial hair of each respective face.

Here is a site that you might find interesting. This isn't Mach 3 but Gillette Fusion and it's lifespan is increased 3-5x via a process performed outside the Gillette company.

You can use them for as long as they work properly. If they start pulling your hair instead of cutting, it would be time to get a new blade.
