My husband and I recently bought a pillow top mattress set. It's great. Best sleep I've had in a long time. And the mattress is nice and thick. I have to buy the deep pocket sheets but it's worth it. Most comfortable mattress I've ever been in.

I prefer a firmer mattress, but you really can't do wrong with Sealy or Serta. This brand will hold up for 30 years or more .. they stand behind their products. The firmness of the mattress depends upon your own comfort level and the condition of your back/spine.

The main complaint with pillowtops is that the cheap polyurethane foam used in the top layers rapidly breaks down, forming "compression depressions" . . 2" SuperSoft convoluted SealyFoam, & 1/2" SuperSoft SealyFoam Comfort Layers: 1" SuperSoft SealyFoam, 1/2" SealyFoam, 2" x 1" pressure point materials, 1/2" memory foam.

Latex might be another option

THEY ARE GREAT AT FIRST BUT 6 MONTHS OF USING ONE YOU WILL BE LOOKING FOR ANOTHER MATTRESS AND YOU WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER PILLOW TOP EVER AGAIN. TALK TO PEOPLE THAT HAVE HAD THEM OVER 4 MONTHS YOU WONT FIND A 6 MONTH OWNER.

I have one w/ about a 6" pillowtop. To be honest, if the room is not really cold, I find myself getting hot where hte thing hugs me. Next one will not have a pillowtop over about 2" thick.

We rented a place in Florida & they had a new one on the bed there & we didn't like it at all. I have had spine surgery & have rods in my back & I was miserable. It was too soft. No structure for your back. A firm to semi firm I think is better for your back & comfort.

They are wonderful if you get the right firmness but it will wear down after a while. I went back to the plain old matress.
