I wrote this for a greetings card company, but they rejected it as 'too aspirational' and 'not commercial'. It was for a friendship/love card. If you were looking for a card to send to someone close, with a message to say how meeting them has changed your life, would you send one with these words?
Thinking back to when we first got together
I like to pretend that it was down to my charm,
but the fact is it was all you--
your smile, your warmth,
your sense of fun and adventure.
I'm so glad I found you.

I think it's really sweet. I think anyone would love to get such a card from someone they care for.

My opinion is they were turned off by the word pretend. I suggest (free of charge) Thinking back to how we met, I once thought it was my charm, but the fact is that it was because of you, your smile, your warmth, your sense of adventure that sealed our relationship. I'm so glad I found you.
