Before you mention Timothy McVeigh, you should ask yourself what happened to him...I'm pretty sure he was tried and executed. Why don't the Muslim nations have any men in them? Why are they like the German officers in the 30s and 40s? Why hasn't a "moderate" Muslim taken matters into his own hands? Is it because all Arabs are related? Does Allah command them to marry their cousins?

In a world wide conflict, like “the war on terrorism”, nuclear weapons are largely irrelevant because there are no clear targets and the consequences of nuclear fallout are too devastating.
However, should there be a destruction of Israel, Afghanistan, and modern Iraq by Muslim extremists (like Iran) allied with all the Arab nations such that we were facing a Middle Eastern enemy something like the Ottoman Empire, it would become an East verses West World War. In such a scenario, the use of nuclear weapons would be inevitable. It wouldn’t happen at first. Both sides would strive to win without using nuclear weapons. But once one side was losing, and defeat or surrender were the only options, weapons of mass destruction would be the only way to regain an advantage.
Is this justifiable? It depends on which side you are on. If a nuclear bomb was set off in the United States, and it was clear that the bombers were a state-sponsored militant group, then I say yes. Nuke the bastards.

No, because a nuclear bomb would not necessarily kill the enemy - the people responsible for setting off the bomb here - and that is what we need to do. The exception to that answer is if a nation's government was responsible and the weapon they exploded was a nuclear bomb. But even then it should be directed to those responsible for the attack, not the country as a whole and definitely not because it is "just" a Muslim country.

We don't have to go after "insects" with nuclear weapons. We have to find like minded people within those countries who will work to kill them and eradicate their breeding grounds. This a war unlike any other we have been in and requires sophistication, maturity, patience and determination to not only win it, but to win it the right way so that it doesn't pop up again down the road.

NO, but to save a 10 cents per gallon of patrol we can attack countries in the middle east and put our nation in danger. Not all Muslims are terrorist as well not all Christians are good, in the middle east there are a lot of Christians living safely with full rights (all the middle eastern countries has a Christian population among except Saudi Arabia). Islam gives the religion right to everybody: look at the number of churches in the Middle East. Let us be fair: why this war addressed against USA only? What about France, Canada, Australia, Germany….. etc, at last but not least: these people were not enemies few years back; they were supported by USA example: Sadam Hussain and Qaida group. ACTION results a Reaction. Read more and take the other parties point of view.

Do you mean a nuclear bomb in the U.S. or just any type? If you think we can use nukes to respond to a regular bomb, that would be like you shooting me with a BB gun, and then a I hose you with howitzer and I am free from any prosecution.

If you are referring to a nuclear terrorist device, then the answer is a lot harder. I would actually say no, because the use of a nuclear weapon in the middle east will create three problems.

1) How will we know if we got the individuals responsible? A nuke doesn't exactly leave remains to be identified at ground zero.

2) The collateral damage to innocent civilians, as well as the ill will we generate with other Islams throughout the world, will create more terrorists than we could hope to kill with a nuclear weapon, likely on several orders of magnitude.

3) Using weapons of mass destruction will legitimize the use of these weapons against us and cause an escalation, while also giving these criminals more sympathy and backing the world over.

Therefore, I think the answer is an emphatic NO!

PS: We need to catch Osama and put him on trial as the petty criminal he is. It would be wonderful if he could be tried in Saudi Arabia and sentenced there. They behead criminals in public for all to see. I think many who lost loved ones and friends (myself included) would like to see that as opposed to a mushroom cloud over the middle east.

Absolutely not. Only if it's a nuclear bomb. Even then it would have to be a tactical nuke. Our war is not with Muslims. It's with The Muslim extremists. The are a mere 1% of the Muslim population.
The Nazi party was a mere 4% of the German population when he rose to power. We have to free the Muslim people from these extremist. People need to know that Islam is a peaceful religion. Thats why they are so easily dominated by extremist regimes.

NO,
Nuclear bombs should never be used. the fact that we have them allows us to use them as threats but to actually use them is wrong. they hurt too much. it is too much punishment for any crime. it comes back to haunt you anyway and could start a conflagration that destroys everyone. Even you.

if one Buddhist destroys a building we may not then rightly bomb Japan.
If one Christian bombs a building we may not then rightly bomb the Vatican
etc
the fact that a person is of a certain faith and commits a crime does not justify a war against all people of that faith.

The individual perpetrators and planners and co-conspirators and accessories shoudl be sought out by investigation, hunted down and brought to trial. That is the right way to do things is you are moral and just and care about justifications.

The Catholics bomb buildings in Ireland and England but nobody bombs the Pope or blames all catholics. It is just a few of them with bad ideas and leadership Not ALL of them.

What religion were the young USA guys who Bombed the federal building in Oklahoma? Nobody asks or cares.

It is possible for small factions of fanatical religious zealots and bigots to profess faith and use it as an excuse to attack others who do not agree with the, but that does not condemn all others of that same faith. But I am talking about the right wing christians in USA . i guess it is irrelevant to your question . Right?

We should find out who attacked us and hunt them down and bring to USA justice. not go out and attack the weakest muslim nation we can find as a pretext for past grievances that have nothing to do with the actual crime being punished.
When the japanese attacked pearl harbor, Pres Roosevelt did not declare war on Buddhism. That would be idiotic. he declared war on the NATION of japan. ( it had been taken over by religious zealots in the military) We did not invade INDIA, because they have some buddhists there? ( it is the birthplace of Buddha) Only an idiot president elected by fools would do such a thing.
( oops, ,did I say that? I was only thinking it.)
INDONESIA is all muslim. it has many many millions of people.
How about we drop a nuclear bomb on them because of Osama bin laden? ( an arab) or how about we bomb the home country of the 911 attackers? ( Saudi Arabia)
The truth is that Iraq, bless their poor oppressed hearts, never attacked us, and the young men who attacked us were NOT from there. Bush wanted to attack Iraq for other reasons so used the 911 attack as an excuse to do what he wanted to do and divert attention away from his pals in saudi arabia who were the real targets of the attack on us by their own young people rebelling against the sheiks by attacking the country that props up the sheiks. check it our dude ! get smart and hate the right people. Do not blame the muslims for this crazy act or some misguided arab boys.
Use your intelligence to fight the power and rebel against the true wrongdoers by your voting. do not be their puppet. do not resort to violence. we are a free nation of laws, or try to be.
we need an informed electorate and fair ballot boxes and good will triumph. That is the RIGHT thing to do. forget the big bombs and all the little bombs too.

you are not thinking clearly because you have been brainwashed by the Fox news channel that has exploited your natural patriotism and mixed it up with human hatred and foolishness to manipulate you. SHAKE IT OFF and use your brain

Very interesting question. I am a muslim and most likely it would happen although I would hate to see such an event happen. The war on terror can be defeated but needs educating muslims around the world to understand that Christianity and Judaism is not our enemy. Although it is stated in the Quran you cannot trust them and to kill them if they treadpass, this was not a generalization but rather based on a moment in time. If you look at the Islamic world most Muslims are from poor countries and are highly iliterate. They can be easily influenced and brainwashed to believe extremists such as UBL and others to folow their idiology. The war on terrr has to start from the Islamic world to educate our own and to improve their education system which needs to be revamped. Its not the religiuon its the people itself that are perverting it.

let me answer this.

ive had enough of this crap people keep talkin about muslims. all you people keep talking about people who pretend to be muslims and are actually just people who are insane and are terrorsits with personal grudges!

just for your information pal , islam does not preach one to kill anyone else , especially innocent people. it says defend urself in danger and otherwise do not hurt anyone of any religion , sex, caste or region.

when u talk about throwing a nuclear bomb in the middle east you might feel very delighted thinking that the terrorists are dead. on the other hand your highly mistaken. the terrorsits never die.
its only the innocent people like u and me die! small kids , families get torn apart. the real killers are always alive . because no one intends to find them. they take their anger out on the innocent people and that is because they cant find the real killers.

so think about it. how would you feel if you country was bombed with a nuclear bomb. wouldnt you be the one on fire! so think twice before coming up with such idiotic questions! try and find the real killers!

people always see one side of the story. they keep portrayin how americans are loosing lives in the gulf, but have u overlooked the stories of how they killed innocent people in iraq or kuwait or in afghanistan just to take out their frustration since they cant find the real killers. most of the cases are never let out. they are kept undercover.

basically you should use your mind. first learn about islam more. ur being ignorant! dont listen to what others say. find out by yourself!

Sure. And as soon as a Christian detonates a bomb in the America, we're free to use nuclear bombs in Rome and England and Georgia? Right? Same thing.

The US would find the perpetrators and their associates and eliminate them. The source of the material would be tracked, and if found to originate from a hostile nation the US would take action but most likely nothing as unacceptable as you propose. The US is not about getting revenge. They're about justice. Justice is precise as possible and not indifferent to the many innocent people in the crossfire.
