I would say that it is because men are more visual than women but in ancient Greece it was men's bodies that were objects to be admired. I think there is something in American culture that that says men's bodies need to be covered up. I think it might have something to do with homophobia. Even women don't like skimpy clothes on men in America but in other countries (IE France) it is more excepted.

The sterotypical answer would be that gay men also have fun with clothing, but I'm sure plenty of hetero guys like shopping and trying on clothes as well. I don't know any, but I'm sure they are out there.

You do realize that you question speaks volumns about you, right?
Look, go put on fun clothes, whatever you want, and then go obessively buy some more, whatever you consider "fun," and then...wear them..I mean it's clothing, not rocket science, put on some funky pants and move on. Life is not clothing.

Because we have more options...socially in most countries, men are bound by social mores to wear a shirt, pant/shorts and shoes. Women can wear that, plus a skirt, dress, necklace, earrings, purse, scarf, etc.

You don't have all the fun...just most men are to "MANLY" to let go. I am 50+, have 4 kids and wear bright shirts and different kinds of hats. Just loosen up, gentlemen.
