Through the vast experience of your husband in the field of computers, it is very clear that he knows most of the things, including how to keep a close look on the works being done through the PC. Whenever you open a file like Photos, Videos or Internet Explorer, or you create any of the file its description automaticallly gets saved in some places on the computer. The prominent ones are :-

A:
1> Click on the START button.
2> Go to 'My Recent Documents' for Windows XP or 'Documents' for Windows 98..., click on it & you would be able to view a list of recently opened files.

B:
1> Open the Internet Explorer, and click on the 'History' button, it is on the right side of the star figure.
2> Here all the files that you have opened on the PC or on the Internet will get dislayed.
3> If you want to delete these traces then
i) Go to 'TOOLS' on the menu and click on 'Internet Options'
ii) A new box will open up, with the 'GENERAL' tab as default. In this click on 'Delete Cookies...' , 'Delete Files' , 'Clear History' ; one by one.

C:
1> If you are using Windows XP, then the traces of all files are Hidden in a folder. To view this :-
i) Open 'My Computer' and click on 'TOOLS' on the menu bar.
ii) Go to 'Folder Options' and click it. A new box opens
iii) Click on 'View' tab, which is on the right side of 'General' tab.
iv) In 'View' tab follow this : Double click on 'Files & Folder Options' to get a list of many options
Now double click on 'Hidden files and folders', 2 options open up.
Now click on 'Show Hidden files and folders', press ok on the lower part.
2> Go to the drive where your Windows is installed. (The drive which contains a folder named Windows, Program Files, etc. is the drive in which Windows is installed.
3> Now go to 'Documents and Settings', then inside it click on the username (if you don't know then use the following in every folder). Go inside the folder and you will find a faded folder named 'RECENT' or 'My Recent Documents' go inside it and delete every trace of files that you don't want to show.

Besides these there are many softwares that work silently without your knowledge and stores your every moment. Like some of the softwares are :-
Key logger: this type of software stores whatever you type on the PC.
Screen Recoder : This software will record images or videos of eveything that is going on the PC.
If you need any more help you may mail me.

Best of Luck!

Yes he can, especially if he was the one who set up your system. He can even controll it remotely. (when its turned on)
And if he knows computers well enough he can recover files that have been deleted (within a reasonable time)
Even on a reformatted harddrive I can recover ALL files that were on the computer just before formatting. Most people think reformatting will erase all files but it only erases the FAT File Allocation Table. that the table that tells the Operating system where all the files are.
Deleting a file only removes it from the table NOT the computer. As the computer is used some more the files are over written, but depending on the time and amount used some of those files can be recovered.

well, asuming he is good using the computer he can trace a lot of things , including your chat (using a key loger), if he is smart enough, he can trace everityng on your computer. It actualy exist an aplication (something with freeze) wich after you install it , it runs hidden, and once runned you can do anithyng you want (including file deletion) , and after a restart of the computer it comes back exactly how it was before.....

Yes he can "trace" what you do through the history and such. I suggest a good security program with a keystroke recorder. That way he will have to "break in" and you will have a detailed list of everything he did or looked at.

My wife or no one else can access my stuff, because they need to know my password before it will start up. They would really have to be good at guessing to do that. I had my computer man set that up for me.

If he has been on that long he can watch EVERY click of your keystrokes, every page you view, he can also watch you and control your system from another system half way around the world!
