we exist to fulfill a purpose if you think of the question philosophically... we exist to perpetuate the species if you think biologically. Read some of Howard Bloom's work to get a better idea of your quandry if you actually care. If you are just trying to stump the world... well, welcome to the ranks of folks who have asked that question.

Yeah there is a point to living - make your life memorable. Mortality and Immortality are not the issue the issue is the process and the journey of your life. If u want ur life to be meaningful then make it just that - volunteer or do some service for someone or start an awareness group about a cause that is near and dear to you. Immortality is nice but how do we know what it is and that we want it w/o living a very mortal life to begin with and my believe is that what ever energy u put into anything that same energy is what u will receive but in a greater capacity and I believe this to be true in the mortal realm as well as the immortal realm.

Have u seen a movie called " Sweet November"...maybe u could find a answer in it...If your are immortal.. I guess there is no meaning to live at all... life is short.. that's why it's so charming... maybe we all don't know what's the meaning it now.. but I am sure one day we'll wake up and say to yourself:I know that's I want....and that's my life...
I think all we have to do is to care the things aroud us..
I am sure there must be something gets some meaning for u!
Ps. remembered in history...that could be a drill for future students.. Gosh,, do them a favor...

I do not know much other than that I have learned trough personal experience that we can have an influence and often this may be felt for years to come. I also have found something that gives me direction and hope. I used to wonder at this existence but now I truly know that there is more and that this life is merely a part of something so much greater and that I will continue after even this mortality. That is just where I am at.

There is a purpose to every life. When you are born, you're packaged with different gifts and givens. They are not meant for you yourself entirely but rather for the good of others. Sure, life is also meant ot have fun. But if you have an equal balance of fun, and work, then you won't get bored of either. I mean, if you have ot much fun, then you get bored of it after a while. So then have of the purpose of life is gone. I foyu have too much work, then you get bored of it after a while. Then, you are missing the work that is going to help get you through life. To be remembered in history, you don't have to do something big. You just have to do something noteworthy.

It doesn't matter, why does life have to be meaningful? as we individually live our lives, we may want to make our lives meaningful to keep going. Life itself is just whatever it is -it doesn't have to have meanings. It's, however, beneficial to everyone and the whole world ( maybe even the whole universe) that we live to improve ourselves, to become better human beings, to understand ourselves and one another better, so that we can be less violent, less greedy, less inhuman, etc. -so that, we can all treat one another with respect, so that we can all enjoy what life has to offer, which is infinite. The main point is we are here, existing right now, there is no need to make it otherwise. Immortality does not make anything better - one could be eternally miserable.

The answer to that question lies within yourself. You have to make your life as meaningful as possible while you're here on earth still living. We all have a purpose you just have to find out what yours is, hell i don't even know what mine is but i do know there is one. Being remembered in history is more of a fable because history has been so distorted, basically you can write whatever in your epilogue even if it's not truth just to make yourself look good. Once you're dead you can be whomever because the pen is mightier than the sword.

The ideal wouldn't be to be immortal, it would be to be live as long as you wanted and then be able to end it peacefully (and after counselling). To be immortal and unable to end your life would eventually be hell. The immortal life in Heaven must be *very* different from life on earth.

The point of life is to advance your soul. The question of course is do you get more than one shot at it. Reincarnation says yes. Most other religions say no.
