Thanks to the link I found out about Zenkey. It is a foal of a male zebra and a donkey. All very unintended by the human zoo keepers.

Zebras, Przewalksi horses, and other types of feral equine are used to being in the wild and are extremely hard to train compared to a horse. Horses have most of their defense mechanisms trained out of them, at least they become dormant until the horse needs to rely on them, unlike zebras. Also, zebras are mean. They will kick and bite and kick again until they rid themsleves of the agitation (a.k.a. humans or our silly training devices). Yes it can be done, yes you can ride a zebra, but it takes a lot patience. I suggest watching the movie "Racing Stripes". In it you can see some of the natural instincts kicking in, like when he gets hit in the face with mud.

Same reason you can domesticate cats but not panthers. The genetic predisposition is strictly based on aggressive behavior, but actually it is very puzzling that a horse acts the way it does towards humans

because they are lazy creatures as compared to other domesticated animals.

just imagine a zebra race. one zebra finds another zebra of opposite sex in the race and both starts rubbing their bodies instead of running!!! to avoid this situation, zebras are not domesticated..

Although zebras resemble horses in appearance, they are not built to be beasts of burden. They cannot carry riders or heavy loads.
