Unfortunately, it still matters to a lot of people, even though most people have some degree of mixed race in their families.

I think that racism and that what were talking about, is age related. I'm almost in my fifties and have no malice or ill-feeling towards people with a different skin colour to mine. We are all the same underneath. However when I hear young people talk i do see racism come to the surface. We see this for example in the Muslim community where some of the youth are extremists and although being British born have such a hatred for this country. I don't know how old you are but my life experiences have taught me too be tolerant and understanding, that you are what you are and your views on life do change with age and experience. I hope this helps you. Accept the thing that you can't change.

A great deal, legislation surface politeness, and acceptable social standards aside, Colour matters a whole deal, it make the simple difference between always politely spoken too and a dinner invite or take the harsher mode where people make judgements about you before even getting to know you.
Though we have come a long way from where we were but perhaps a few decades down the line you may see greater changes and a more accepting society.

I think it matters, your colour is an indication of your heritage and is part of who we are, where we come from and something to be proud of. I think the problems within society will not be eradicated by denying and ignoring our different colours but by accepting them and embracing them.
Just because colour matters does not mean racism is occuring, and does not have to be negative. Some people are not attracted to people of a different colour, some people are only attracted to people of a different colour, some people are more specific, these are personal preferences and i do not think there is anything wrong with this, i personally am not attracted to ginger haired people (no offence meant). The problem lies in assuming certain characteristics are asscoiated with colour and by ignoring colour and pretending or assuming colour does not matter to everyone we are not dealing with the underlying issues.

Thousands of years ago someone wrote: ...for man looketh on the outward appearance (skin, etc), but the Lord looketh on the heart (character). Sadly, that often remains the case today. Having said that, America has heroes and wonderful people of all colors, religions, sexes, etc. I'm from the Houston area, and we brag about our diversity! There is a webpage you may enjoy which describes how men and God choose leaders. It is http://myth-one.com/Gods_Underdogs.htm
You had no choice in your mixed race. Maintain a good character, that is what you can control. God and people who really matter will recognize that, not something as unimportant as colour!

Not at all. I disagree with what some people have said. All my family are middle/upper class and some are with people of other races. I'm from the UK and no one would care if I dated/married any race!
About from racist a*seholes, most people do not care about colour.
Religion and culture would bother me more just because it is a harder barrier to overcome than someones bloody skin colour!
I mean I am white, but my skin tone is not the same as every white person. Shall I judge them because they are a different shade?
yes I agree with you, it is totally stupid for people to judge on that alone.

Mixed race people are often sexier than single race people. Discover magazine even did an article about this. That's why so many supermodels come from Brazil. Personally I like medium dark skin and I don't think I'm alone. It's not just about color though, it is also about facial features.

it depends on the person. but yes people r still attracted more to fair skin.
but if u have achived some goal in ur life then it won,t matter much .I mean if u have a good personality , good knowledge, communication u can make people respect u more than anyone else.
other thing is class does matter if u r from a good family from high class then also color doesn't matter.
but for people like me r their in the world who see a person in total n not only their colour.

It does matter but it is getting to the point where it is matters more politically than what it did when civil rights were the focal issue. More couples today r interacting and creating children of mixed races - I know I have contributed my two kiddos to this and I am glad. We need to get away from them and us mentality and focus on we -

I've told my son that skin color (is what we seem to judge a race by) is only that individual's physical coloring, like hair color or eye color. I've told him this since he was tiny. Red heads, blonds, black hair, blue eyes, brown eyes ... All genetics.
There are no races. To promote race-class is illogical. The Earth is covered in people and we're all decended from a few, thousands of years ago. Regional differences change clans of people genetically. He is 14, but when he starts to date a girl it would not surprise me what she looked like. He is a good boy, would attract a good girl.
I DO believe people respond strong to social class. A doctor or lawyer, regardless of what race, would NOT want to date me since I am of lower middle class. He'd get booted out of his country club, and could NEVER bring people over for a cocktail party since I wouldn't know the first thing about putting one on! ha ha!
