I'd like to know if I should invest in posters/flyers/business cards - what would you pick up and take home with you and phone me up from?

I'd agree best quality work possible as that reflects your capability. May be worth investing in two (or more) cards, one for professional work, one for domestic. Wouldnt bother with posters/flyers myself, unless you have a sure fire outlet for them (art shop / photographers studio etc)

I think there are better ways of getting noticed, but them im a marketing consultant so I would!!

That depends on the type of photography you are doing. If you are doing weddings, advertising in the yellow pages, with a photo will grab the most calls. Business cards rarely lead to a sales call, unless they are handed out by satisfied clients. Flyers that can be placed at bridal shops would be very good. If you are doing other photography, such as commercial work, direct calls on prospective clients, with samples you can leave with them would be great.

It depends on your budget. If I were "shopping", I'd probably just pull up whitepages.com, but if you caught me before I started shopping, good posters might catch attention. You should always have good business cards, no matter what other marketing you do. Also, you may want to look into specialty advertising, some things are not as expensive as you might think. I do some marketing for my employer and we use www.pens.com

I'd pick up a business card and keep it on file but mostly I'd like to see your website for examples of your work. Good luck!

posters with very good photographs printed on it. if u go for business cards, even they should have a nice pic. they should show how capable u r. if i see a photograph and imagine myself as the subject in it, i wud definitely go for that photographer.
