its not SVU but it is "S.U.V."
it stands for SPORTS UTILITY VEHICLE..........and is used to describe those cars which u can take to almost any terrain.

SVU is Special Victims Unit, the name for one of the Law and Order spin-offs. In theory, it is a group of police that works with representatives from the DA office to handle victims of particularly stressful crimes, such as rape, violent murder witnesses, and victims of very elaborate embezzlement.
If, by any chance you meant SUV, as in Sport Utility Vehicle, that's a large truck (or small nowadays) with an enclosed back and seating for at least four. They are the current replacement for the large stations wagons that were common up until the late 70s. They work almost as well as a station wagon in providing room for people and cargo, except they are harder to get into, use a lot more gas, block traffic by limiting the vision of other drivers, and do more damage to other vehicles in accidents.
Hmmmmm, maybe there should be a SVU to deal with people harmed by SUVs?
