An average time for a non-athlete would be around 14:00 or slower, but for an experience runner, sub 11:00 to under 10:00 is possible. I saw a young lady named Kin Mortenson run the 3,200 (high school equivalent of the 2M) in 9:48, which was a national record. Her 3K time probably would have been around 9:20.
