I think it would be in his own interest to leave England as it seems that the English press is going to make him the scapegoat to blame for the early exit of England's much hyped team from the World Cup.
It's certainly easier to blame Cristiano Ronaldo than admit that a disappointing English squad only played some 60 minutes or so of good football (parts of the first half against Sweden and with 10 players against Portugal) and that Roo - despite being the good footballer, that he definitely is - needs to work on his temper.
Don't get me wrong it's certainly not good sports what Ronaldo did, but there are a lot of people overreacting in England. And let's not forget it was Roo who kicked someone lying in front of him in the nuts.

Why should he be banned? If he is playing for his home country and Rooney already had a yellow card from earlier on in the game. Rooney doesn't harbor any ill feeling towards Cristiano Ronaldo. This happened in the World Cup and has nothing to do with the Premiere League. And think of how much it would hurt to kicked in the balls with soccer cleats. Rooney has gotten over it, why don't you?

I got to agree with shollstein, the British are only going to use Cristiano Ronaldo as a scapegoat for Rooney's immature actions. He deserved the red card, kicking someones nuts isn't part of any soccer play. Just admit that England didn't play to win that game, and they knew that they didn't have a chance that is why they started to play dirty. Get over it and stop being sore losers.

Ronaldo is a wanker! In an interview he said he did not ask the ref for a red card. But what about the "wink" did you see the damn wink? He would be a wise man not to return to United.

Why should he be banned ?
It wasnt him who stamped on the Potugese player !
It wasnt him that pushed the Portugese player !
Yes he did suggest to the referee that Rooney should be booked BUT the referee is the one that makes the decisions !
So if anyone is to blame its Rooney for the offence as stamping on another player is a sending off offence !!!

Renaldo should stay.....he didnt do anything wrong, he didnt wind Rooney up, he did that all by himself and besides atleast Renaldo did score for his country, what exactly did Rooney do....sorry.......yep thats right i cant hear you...oh yeah it was...nothing!!
its a shame England lost....of course i felt it....it was horrid, but come on peeps....rooney did not shine through, which media and all of us... hyped him up for.....he didnt come up with the goods......he did nuthing for our country.....apart from losin himself....if anyone deserves any sorta respect its the ones who scored and played well like scoring penalties and proper defense.....if anyone from the portugal team did wot Rooney did.....u honestly think non of the england players wudnt approach the referee ......ofcourse they wud.....its common sense.....and who knows if he didnt push renaldo maybe he wud still be playin and got away with a yellow. Maybe England wud hav had a chance. but we all know u cant get away with something like that in the world cup!!...ur bound to get somthin..

Not me. i dont think he should be banned. I do however think that the English players & English public should give him a terribly hard time whatever ground he goes to, So that little gay **** fcuks off on his own accord. I say force the little knobhead out of English football and dont welcome cheating little w*nkers like him here ever again.

Only mindless fools.
Even if he was winding up Rooney it is not his fault if the guy is too immature ti rise above it.
This is not the first time that Rooney's temper tantrums have got him into trouble & If something isn't done soon it will not be the last.
