Human Females carry 2 X chromosomes (XX)
Human Males carry 1 X and 1 Y chromosome (XY)
Both parents pass on one of these chromosomes to each child
there are 4 possible outcomes which are XX, XX, XY and XY so the probability of having a Male or a Female child is 50%. Thus the ratio of males to females is constantly around the 50:50 area. This ratio does however fluctuate due to random chance but will always remain around 50:50.
Above answer by Frederik is rubbish, with the exception of a miniscule minority, the chance of male or female offspring is always 50%

point wise answer
The sex ratio is not always identical to 50%-50%. There is some distribution. For some couples it is 45%-55% and for others 52%-48% depending on the genetic code of the parents.
Suppose that the sex ratio would deviate to 25% female and 75% male. Suppose also a constant population i.e. Every women needs to bare 4 children. To make these children she will need each time a man. As there are three times more men than women, each man will "on average" make 4/3 children.
Parents with genes that give an large chance of producing a girl will hence have a bigger chance in creating grandchildren than parents that produce more boys.
Hence those genes of producing girls will eventually spread out, till the ratio girls boys is again 50%-50%

Moreover my answer is much broader in nature than the answer below. The sex-ratio may temporarily deviate from the 50%-50% because of abortion of female fetusses.
Suppose for every three female fetus only on gets born. This will generate a 25%-75% ratio. In the long run however more daughters will be born which will nullify the effect of the abortions. Whether that long run migth be some centuries or millenia and meanwhile result in some big social problems is off course a different question.

No. Human ratio of female to male is not 50 50. Males are nearing 60 percent, while woman are around 40 percent. It is estimated that by 2010, nearly 20 plus million men will be without a female partner.

Now i'm not asserting that any one different than He-guy is an undesireable - don't get me incorrect. All i'm asserting is study you background books - and additionally you will see that male sexuality became a lots probably/overtly suggested venture than that's immediately.

This is a very serious matter on the Indian sub continent. Since fetal identification of gender has become widespread, an extremely high proportion of girl babies are being aborted resulting in a 70 - 30 percent ration for boys to girls each year. Imagine the implications in ten to fifteen years unless the practice is stopped immediately...............
