Hi, i was certain i was pregnant we had unprotected intercourse 3/4 times during my fertile period. Then yesterday i took a pregnancy test, "first responce, early detection test" and it was negative, this was the first day of my missed period and i have a very regular 32 day cycle. do you think it is possible i may still be pregnant, i hope so!!

I thought had pregnancy symptoms last week, felt very dizzy , cramping and headaches, now i think i was imagining it all, has anyone else used the "first responce test" and got a false negative?

A negative test could be wrong. Or you could have ovulated late (even if you are normally very regular), so that either you *are* pregnant or it's too early to test (because your period *wouldn't* have started when you think it would have.
Stress early in your cycle can cause a delay in ovulation. So think back at least 2 weeks--was there some special stress? If so, it could have caused ovulation to be late. Your period is actually *never* late--it always follows ovulation by about 2 weeks (whatever is normal for you).
Next consideration is how did you determine when you would be fertile. If you used an online ovulation calculator, you should know that they are *guesses* based on what an "average" woman's cycles look like. By definition, average is usually wrong. (Think of it this way...if you expected every woman to be 5'4" tall because that's average, how often would you be right?) So you may have gotten ovulation all wrong...
And, finally, how many days were you assuming for your "fertile period"? If you had sex 3-4 times in a week, then you almost certainly *weren't* fertile the whole time. On the other hand, if you had sex 3-4 times in 2 days, there may not have been enough sperm to make conception likely!
Please read _Taking Charge of Your Fertility_ by Toni Weschler for detailed information on how to increase the likelihood of conceiving. It will give you solid *facts* rather than rumors and averages.
Good luck!!

False negative readings (from home kits) can occur when the concentration of the hCG in the woman's urine is below the threshold of detection by the test. This can happen before the 5th week of pregnancy (defined as 5 weeks from the last menstrual period) - beta hCG levels rise exponentially in the first two months or so of pregnancy so the earlier the test is performed, the higher the chance of a false negative result. A blood test usually detects hCG about 10-11 days after ovulation, which translates to about the first day of the missed menstral period.

No you are not pregnant because these tests are 100% reliable unfortunately. Just you wait and relax.. Your period will come. Once you relax - it will come... Your brain is an amazing body regulator...if you have any stress it can halt your period. So, on the good side - if you are trying to have a baby - you get to try again next month!!!! Why wait till next month do it now - guaranteed once you decide to have sex - your period will come ....... :0 :( :/

Yes. This test was unreliable for me. I actually took it twice, because I was sure that I was pregnant. Both times came out negative. I waited 2 more weeks and went to the doctor. I was actually pregnant. I am expecting my son in November. Give yourself like 2 more weeks. If you don't see your period, go to the doctor.

Since it's just the first day you may want to wait another couple of days and take it again. Good luck!

It really does'nt sound like it. Those tests are pretty accurate, but anything is possible. Try another in a week or so.

Do you have any signs?
Sore breasts?
Cramps?
Breasts starting to swell?
Abnormal grouchiness? hmmm maybe another reason for that one though :)
If so, then wait for another 3 weeks and take the test again...
I wish you well..
