Hi there,

If this pop-up is nothing to do with your currently installed security programs, then it's a high probability this is a malware infection on your PC - likely to be one of Spyware Quake, SpyFalcon or System Doctor that are all doing the rounds lately. Under no circumstance follow the information delivered by these pop-ups as they only lead to an even larger payload of spyware / adware.

Firstly I would ignore recommendations to install AVG, Spybot and Ad-Aware. These used to be great programs a couple of years ago, but their protection is now lacking, with them now rated as 3 of the worst security programs for actual protection.

My recommendation would be a program called Prevx1. This is an all-in-one solution that is continually proving to detect, protect and remove more malware (virii, spyware, adware, trojans, rootkits, etc) than all other security vendors combined. It has recently been reported to hold the strongest protection and removal capabilities available today, so should be able to remove your current infections quite easily. As a side-note - I recently installed Prevx1 on a friend's PC that already had AVG installed, and Prevx1 went on to find over 30 pieces of malware that AVG had missed. This shows how poor AVG has now become...

Prevx are offering a Free Trial of their product which will scan your computer and automatically remove any threats infecting your PC free of charge. You can read more about Prevx and download your Free Trial from their website:

1. remove Norton anti-virus.

2. install and run ALL of the following.

The best Anti-virus is: AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition. (www.grisoft.com)
The Best Spyware defense is: SpyBot Search and Destroy (www.spybot.info)
AND: AdAware SE (www.lavasoft.com)
AND Spyware Blaster (www.spywareblaster.com)
The best Firewall besides the one that comes with Windows is: Zone Alarm (http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/co... or just (www.zonelabs.com) and select the FREE version.

These are all FREE and are all that are required. There is no reason to pay for this kind of software, except to give a donation to the writers if you can.
ALL the above programs are recommended and should be run on a regular basis. With some the free versions they must be run manually.

The best way to avoid getting any Malware (virus, Trojan's, spyware, etc) is to practice safe computing. Microsoft and many others have countless articles on the subject of safe computing. (something I think should be taught in schools)

If its not Norton asking for a renewal or something like that, run a spyware scan and virus scan. Make sure they are up to date. Also make sure you have your browser popup protector on or you got the yahoo one.
