accounts payaple, means you are in charge of the bills. Paying them. Paying the vendors.. sometimes even payroll.

Accounts recievable, means you are incharge of collecting money that is owed the company.

Figuring out problems such as unused purchase orders (if things are ordered, they should be invoiced or there will be problems later and bills will be turned in late) The main goal in accounts payable is presenting an invoice with the correct back up so that the check is signed.

Accounts payable matches the packing slips etc. of incoming shipments to invoices and pays the invoices. They make sure that all bills are paid on time.

They're kinda of an interface group between their company and the vendors, with respect to billing products and services (they receive invoices, some verify if these are correct (most of times, the dpt that requested the product or service does it), obtain the necessary approvals for the payment of the invoices and to pay them.

it depends on the size of the company, and the number of employees there are. But the main job is that you take care of accounts that are paid out by that company. That would include payroll. You would probably have to do daily postings, make reports of all monies paid out, etc

There's a lot to know about it. I hate doing A/P and have the utmost respect for those who do.

I prefer A/R, Accounts Recievable because I can get hardnosed with companies who owe us money.

These are the companies that you owe. It's usually made up of Purchase orders and your payments (your company checks).

Payroll is not incude under that heading or software module.

Accounts receivable is what you get from your customer... you invoice and get paid.
