Double decker busses are good for short city travels, because it reduces the trafic in the roads, since it moves slower than the normal buses its not recomended for long distance travels.
Best mode of public transport is sky bus, coz it occupies its space over the normal road and is very economical.
Maglev (magneticlevitation) is the going to be the future mode of transport.

No, Double Decker buses are not suitable for roads these days. There are many low lying Wires and Bridges..... Double Decker Buses dont have good Balance also, which makes them a potential Hazard for the passengers and othercommuters too..
The best mode for transport is Metro Rail according to me... It is comfortable, convenient, speedy, clean and economical too..... It should be introduced to more and more citie in India. Metro has brough about a drastic improvement in the transportation scene in Delhi and i cant see why it wont be able to do so for other cities as well.

Double decker buses are taller than normal buses. The higher an object is, the easier it will topple over as it's 'center' is further away from the point of gravity in the earth. Imbalance/ That also explains why racing cars are built so that they are low to the ground. Heavy and large vehicles are also advised not to travel fast and make sharp turns.

On the main roads, it's OK. But, what I saw in Banglore is : the municipal corporation was cutting huge branches of healthy trees to facilitate plying of bouble decker buses on several road. If it requires to cut even a leaf, then I prefer cycle rickshaw, which is non-polluting and also gets some income to the poor. I don't mind to be premitive to protect clean environment

well i dont really see how they would be better for the road you have doubled the passanger cap. and nstill have just 2 axles they have a real high center of gravity and are restricted to a set route cause of there highth so in my opion they arent the best way to move peopel they are really just for show and the best mode of publis transport is a combenation or bus ,rail , an subway

yo rekha good question...
double decker buses that ply on the streets of bombay are the safest of all...they have a very cool turning radius and are risky only if the roads are bad having dirty potholes...from the engineering point of view they're a masterpiece....these buses gain importance from the tourists point of view..
